We acknowledge all Nations who live, work, and play, help us steward this land, and honour and celebrate this place.The OpportunityThis position assists with the projection-related needs at Banff Centre. It is understood and expected that the applicant have a specialty and basic competencies in the remaining departments. Job tasks will include working across all technical areas depending on the nature of the production.The focucs of this position will be supporting events during the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival.Roles and ResponsibilitiesReporting to Production Manager, Performing Arts below are some key accountabilities:Ensures the timely execution of all projection activity involved in the load in, set-up, operation and strike. Will be required to take on projection responsibilities in a variety Banff Centre studios, venues, and departmentsProvide technical production support for live events including film presentations, live speaker events,



and more.Responsible for supporting the integration of department-wide activities; and may be called to support coordination of a highly specialized activityExecute all job tasks with attention to safety proceduresLiaise with other staff to ensure effective support is anticipated and provided to ensure a successful experience for artistic clients, participants and facultyQualifications and Educational RequirementsMust have a minimum of 5 years' experience as a working practitioner in their discipline within a Theatre or Performing Arts production environmentCompletion of a degree, diploma, or related certificate in Technical TheatreMust be proficient in the use of computers and multi-media and able to operate specialized equipmentMust have a working knowledge of projection theories and practices that support this disciplineStrong interpersonal skills, and ability to stay calm under pressureAble to work with tight, changing timelines in a fast paced environmentKnowledgeable of related industry trends including the application of up to date techniques, and use of special materials and current health and safety standardsAble to apply of professional theatre techniques and methods to provide the quality, efficiency and support level required by Performing ArtsMust be comfortable working in both Windows and MacOS environmentsExperience with video playback software including WATCHOUT, Isadora and Q-Lab is required. Experience with additional, similar platforms would be considered an assetSpecial RequirementsDue to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.Employment Terms and BenefitsIn accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probationary period.This position pays between $27.17 and $31.51 per hour depending on experience, working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.This is a term position from October 29 - November 8, 2026Benefits of working at Banff Centre are:Transitional staff housing options (Based on availability)Professional developmentStaff cafeteria and restaurant discountsOnsite fitness facility at a discounted rate - first month free for recent staff!
