MAREX Constructors Ltd. is a privately-owned civil construction firm that has been serving the Fraser Valley since 1976.Job SummaryYou will be responsible for preparing, coordinating and manager estimates: focusing on underground utilities, public, and private civil projects in the Lower Mainland.This will involve, but not limited to, helping prepare tenders and bid forms, project costing, help with the dispatching of labour and/or subcontractors, project communication and documentation.Estimator role to progress to Project Management as job are awarded.Remote work is not possible.Hybrid may be available for the right candidate.Job DutiesEnsuring bidding accuracy through all phases of the bidding processAttending site review meetings, effectively organize and communicate to ensure effective communication among all relevant stakeholdersPrepare (discipline estimates by calculating) complete quantity takeoff based on scope of workBeing a leader with oversight of the end-to-end estimating processReviews proposal specifications, contract documents including general conditions, tender form, drawings, and required price breakdownsReview final estimate and apply strategic cost factors where necessaryReview schedules of projects being estimatedReviews bonding & insurance requirementsIdentifies ambiguities and unique technical requirements of the bidDevelops a bid preparation schedule identifying the tasks,



assignments and deadlinesIdentifies potential bid opportunities from both public & private sectorsAttends project pre-tender meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates when necessaryPerform Risk and Contract Management responsibilities as requiredEvaluate proposed construction methodologies to determine the best solutions based on cost, quality, and availability of materialsReview, prepare and submit Request For Quotation (RFQ)'s from vendors and subcontractorsConsult with clients, vendors and other stakeholders to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve potential issuesReview and analyze actual project costing and production information against estimates, and develop historical databasesPrepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bidEstablish and review list of work to be performed by subcontractorsFollow awarded contracts as assigned – may include estimating extra work items, change orders, creditsAdvise on major changes in scope of work and monitor actual cost to estimated cost and ensure change orders are pricedSearch, analyze and communicate to the team options for the most effective means and methods of constructionJob RequirementsExpertise with cost estimating processes,
