Averaging Agreement.Position Purpose SummaryHouse Support worker provides a safe and secure environment for residents and visitorsAccountabilitiesThe incumbent may perform all, some,
or similar duties to the listed below:Characteristic Job DutiesMonitors the environment and clients/residents to ensure safety and security; completes regular client/resident status checks and room searches as requiredMaintains and updates all appropriate documentation (including in-out and incident log books) related to clients/residents and initiates any recent documentationProvides laundry service for the shelters and shelter clientsCleans shelter rooms, washrooms, kitchen, lounge and common areas and performs basic building maintenancecomplete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation ArmyCoordinates and facilitates resident programming as requiredPerforms intake and discharge procedures for clients/residents as assignedMonitors appropriate behavior; intervenes in crisis situations, provides emotional support and advocacy as requiredDistributes funds to residents in accordance with established policies guidelinesEngages in the development of inter-personal relationships that promote dignity and respectLiaises with Police, funders, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff membersProvides orientation to newly hired staff, volunteers, studentsAttends 4 mandatory in-person staff meetings a yearPerforms other duties as assignedNOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.Health & Safety (if Applicable)Physical attacks by othersExposure to infectious diseasesExposure to bodily fluids and bodily wasteSharp objectsOther dangerous situationsWorking ConditionsThe incumbent's work environment is typically in a shelter and/or in treatment facilities.The Incumbent Will Work Under The Following Disagreeable ConditionsDealing with angry peopleAbusive peopleVerbal abuseIsolationWork schedule affecting lifestyleExposure to drugs and alcoholThe above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army's Mission Statement, in a qualified manner, upholding our code of conduct.Education, Experience, AND QualificationsWillingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.E., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.Education, Qualifications And CertificationsHigh School CompletionSocial services Diploma or related Diploma or DegreeExperience And KnowledgeMinimum one year Experience in frontline social service workSkills And CapabilitiesThe performance of the job requires keyboarding/Manual record keeping, and lifting/packing clients/residents property/personal effects and engaging in recreational activities.The performance of the job requires attentive listening and observation of body language, continuously monitoring the environment, multitasking and reading. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, to meet deadlines and cope with stressful situations.Must be able to list a minimum of 40lbsCompensationThe target hiring range for this position is $24.32 to $24.32 with a maximum of $24.32. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
