Lead Controls Specialist – AutomationLocation: Ancaster, ON, Canada (onsite)Salary Range: 90,000 – 110,000 CAD annuallyVacancy Type: Existing positionYour Mission, Should You Choose to Accept ItResponsible for programming, debugging, installation, and startup of recent or modified production and test equipment, focusing on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls installation. Lead a team of Controls Specialists, providing support, guidance, and direction. Maintain equipment documentation systems by obtaining and updating technical reference manuals, instructions, and electrical schematics for long‑term service.Why You’ll Love Working HereRecognition Programs: Programs that recognize and reward employee achievements and contributions.Community Engagement: Opportunities to participate in community service and corporate social responsibility initiatives.Strong Leadership: Work under experienced and visionary leaders who guide the company towards success.Innovation Hubs: Access to state‑of‑the‑art facilities and innovation hubs that foster creativity and development.Employee Empowerment: A culture that empowers employees to take initiative and make impactful decisions.What You’ll Be DoingEnsuring adherence to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and all Stackpole International policies and any other industry standards in all activities.Reports to the Manufacturing Manager.Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Project, and Process Management teams to support the design, build, and commissioning of new automation equipment, including assembly lines, robotic cells for material handling, test equipment, and similar systems.Responsible for leading a team of Controls Specialists.Participates in design review and reports daily progress for meetings.Supports labour cost estimates and coordinates in‑house and subcontractors actions as needed.Completion of run‑at‑rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations.Develops and maintains programming checklists to ensure program validation.Provides technical support and troubleshooting as needed.Offers guidance to everyone to foster and encourage personal development.Supports the creation of training requirements.Determines budget requirements for new products and design tools.Adheres to JE Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Production Systems.Sets and upholds standards for controls, programming, and electrical design.Knowledge of electrical design, including component selection and basic electrical troubleshooting.Serves as a Technical Lead Hand and team member to plan, direct, coordinate, and assist with the installation of new automated assembly equipment.Comprehends and aligns with the short and long‑term objectives of the Controls Team.Programs PLCs, HMIs, robots, vision and motion systems, safety controllers, etc.Sets up control networks (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, …).Recommends processes, procedures, components and methods for standardization.Collaborates closely with the Controls Team and Program Managers to establish schedules and monitor project timelines, ensuring customer satisfaction and on‑time delivery compliance.Provides customer support during equipment commissioning.Continuously improves standards and systems to improve overall performance effectiveness.Travels among Johnson Electric locations as required.Other duties as assigned / required.What We’re Looking ForA technical degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar and relevant industrial experience.5+ years experience in an automation/controls environment.Hands‑on technical skills with respect to Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems.Expert level in PLC programming (Omron NJ/Allen Bradley) and Robot programming (Fanuc/Yaskawa/Kuka).Knowledge of LabVIEW‑based systems and ability to program them is an asset.Understanding of the SQL database and related software.Excellent communications, negotiating, conflict management, and problem‑solving skills.Capability of effective communication, both written and verbal,
