Job SummaryThe Building Attendant (BA) reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. Building Attendants perform a variety of administrative, maintenance, and security functions within the residence managed by Lookout.Job DutiesAdministrative tasks related to property management such as: rent collection, security deposits, petty cashMaintenance work and repair duties such as repairing furniture, installing switches, replacing plugs, and other basic appliance repairsPrepares estimates of maintenance and repair costs for managementPerforms a variety of cleaning duties, garbage removal, and monitors disposal servicesMonitors condition and cleanliness of client rooms, and ensures a safe and secure environmentWill assist recent staff, oversee volunteers, and work with all staff to ensure facilities meet the needs of guestsMaintains manual and computerized reports and records on an ongoing basisEmployees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours. Sleeping during shifts is not permittedResponsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety programQualifications & CompetenceMinimum Grade 12 education plus two (2) years of recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training,



and experienceMust have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 CertificateCrisis Intervention Skills Training is an assetAbility to work independently or in a team settingStrong ability to manage stress and organize workloadExcellent communication, writing, documentation, and organizational skillsUnderstands and maintains clientele/worker boundariesAbility to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environmentStrong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipmentA minimum of two (2) years of sobriety if you have had concerns related to alcohol and/or drug useCriminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable SectorEmployment StatusTemporary part time until incumbent returns.LocationHsg The Oasis, 9 minute walk from Stadium-Chinatown Skytrain Station.Days and Hours of workFriday through Monday. Shift times will be 07:30 – 03:30 Hours (Fri - Sat) and 03:00 - 23:00 (Sun-Mon). Shifts are 7.5 hours in length. Days of rest shall be consecutive.
