Construction Trades Helpers and Labourers

Employment Type Full-time, Permanent

Hours per Week 35-40 hours

Education High School Diploma

Location Brandon, MB

Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Assist concrete finishers and skilled tradespeople with various construction tasks
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment to job sites
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris and setting up work areas
- Mix and prepare concrete, mortar, and other construction materials
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Dig trenches, footings, and foundations using hand tools and machinery
- Assist with formwork installation and removal
- Help with concrete pouring, spreading, and basic finishing tasks
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow all health and safety protocols and regulations
- Perform general labour duties as assigned by supervisors
- Assist with equipment maintenance and care

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Physical ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Basic understanding of construction safety practices
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Previous construction experience is an asset but not required

Painters and Decorators

$26.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming
- Apply paint, stain, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces
- Mix paints and match colors according to specifications
- Use brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to apply coatings
- Apply protective and decorative coatings to concrete surfaces
- Perform surface preparation including filling cracks and holes
- Install and remove masking tape and protective coverings
- Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment
- Follow safety procedures when working with chemicals and at heights
- Estimate material requirements for painting projects
- Inspect completed work for quality and touch up as needed
- Collaborate with other trades to coordinate work schedules
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and time spent

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of painting experience preferred
- Knowledge of paint types, application methods, and surface preparation
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Experience with spray equipment and various painting tools
- Good color vision and attention to detail
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and work in various positions
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of safety procedures and WHMIS certification preferred

$22.00 per hour

- Set up and install concrete forms and reinforcement materials
- Pour, level, and finish concrete surfaces including driveways, sidewalks, and foundations
- Use hand and power tools to smooth and finish concrete surfaces
- Apply various concrete finishes including broom, trowel, and exposed aggregate
- Cut joints and apply sealers to finished concrete surfaces
- Repair and patch existing concrete structures
- Operate concrete finishing equipment including screeds, floats, and trowels
- Monitor concrete curing process and apply protective coverings
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Ensure concrete work meets quality standards and specifications
- Collaborate with other trades and coordinate work schedules
- Maintain and clean tools and equipment
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of concrete finishing experience preferredKnowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments
- Experience with concrete tools and finishing equipment
- Ability to read basic blueprints and specifications
- Physical strength to handle heavy materials and work in demanding conditions
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
