As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.Mission StatementThe Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.Job DescriptionPosition Purpose summary: To provide Christian based emotional and spiritual care to residents, volunteers, and staff within our sphere of influence.AccountabilitiesChaplaincyProvide spiritual care as requested to individuals who access the Fort McMurray services including creating, documenting and following up on spiritual assessments and spiritual care plansProvide spiritual and religious care and support to people of all faith backgroundsCollaborate with chaplains from other faith backgrounds to provide multi-faith chaplaincyPlan and coordinate spiritual care programs and services including chapel services, worship events, Bible studies, devotions and program modulesPray with and lead people to faith in Jesus Christ as opportunity permitsParticipate as an active member of the Fort McMurray Ministries Case Management teamParticipate as an active member of the Fort McMurray Ministries Management teamEnsure that approved Christian and/or Spiritual Religious Care material is available to meet the needs of program participantsAssist with the development / revising of Policies and Procedures specific to the Spiritual Care program as requiredConduct funerals and memorial services as requiredRespond in chaplaincy role to emergencies and crises as required (may be involved in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) defusing and/or debriefing sessions as needed)Provide accurate statistics and reports as requiredMaintain accurate data records and file managementBe familiar with Center Policies and Procedures and ensure they are followed and put into practice.Other duties as assignedCritical Relationship ManagementInternal:Management TeamVarious ad hoc Committees as assigned.External:Clergy, chaplains and community resources from other faith backgroundsFamily members of program participantsCommunity membersManagerial ResponsibilityThis position reports directly to the Corps Officer. This position has no direct reports.Financial and Materials ManagementMaintain confidential files and reports of clients. Maintain a pool of resources with other community services for easy accessibility by the residents.Working ConditionsThe performance of the job requires a moderate amount of standing, sitting, walking, assisting clients, intervening in client confrontations.The incumbent will be required to work at multiple sites; access to transportation will be required.The incumbent must have a adaptable schedule as weekend, evening and holiday coverage may be required.The incumbent's work environment is typically at work sites within residential settings, and may require working under the following disagreeable conditions and will need to follow or use universal precautions: Dealing with angry and abusive people, verbal abuse Exposure to bodily fluids, bodily waste, and infectious diseases Exposure to drugs, alcohol, and solvents Physical attacks by others Exposure to toxic chemicals Sharp objects (i.E., needle sticks, knives, and weapons)



Other dangerous situations Immunization for Hepatitis B and vaccination against TuberculosisEducation and Experience QualificationsEducation, Qualifications and CertificationsMust be a High School graduate.Must be ordained and have Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent.An alternative level of education and experience in Pastoral Care/Chaplaincy may be considered.Experience and Skilled Knowledge RequirementsAt least 2 years' experience in Pastoral Care and /or Chaplaincy preferably in a social services setting as well as experience dealing with mental health issues, substance use, addictions, death, dying, incarceration and family issues.Experience working with vulnerable populationsSkills and CapabilitiesEnsure a high standard of holistic, trauma-informed and client-centred careProficient in maintaining accurate data records, administrative tasks, statistics and report writingProficient in various software programs (e.G. Microsoft 365) and emailBe able to communicate in an empathetic manner with clients, families, staff, community members and agenciesMust be a confidential support and have strong professional boundaries managementMust fully support TSA doctrine/theology and ecclesiologyCompensationThe target hiring range for this position is $64,001.60 to $80,017.60 with a maximum of $96,033.60. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
