They will be responsible for leading the coordinated development and implementation of proactive disability management programs and practices, including ongoing case management that effectively prevent and manage occupational and non-occupational health-related absences.Disability Management and Benefits Specialist with OCHThis role directly supports employees through disability and return-to-work processes, benefits administration, and wellness programs, helping staff feel supported and valued throughout their employment journey. By providing guidance to employees and managers and ensuring the consistent application of policies and collective agreements, the Disability Management and Benefits Specialist directly contributes to Ottawa Community Housing's mission and strategic priorities.As a Disability Management and Benefits Specialist, some of the things you will do include:Coordinate, lead and support activities that enable the planning, development and delivery of a broad range of programs, initiatives and activities related to attendance and disability management, total compensation, advantages and employee wellnessTrack, monitor, and provide case management for extended sick leave, and LTD and WSIB cases, including completing required forms, maintaining files and coordinating with advantages providers and other involved stakeholdersEnsures accurate inputting, updating, and validating of employee data within HRIS and with benefit carriers.Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, management, medical providers, insurance carriers, legal representatives and other third-party entitiesSupports ergonomic assessments and the implementation of approved recommendationsCoordinates initiatives and activities that engage and promote employee workplace health,

Exceptional candidates with different qualifications will be considered at the discretion of the employer if demonstrated experience, knowledge, and ability warrant.Completion of a post-secondary program in human resources, business, health science, or a related fieldA minimum four (4) years of related human resources experience in a unionized environmentExperience developing and implementing programs, processes and systems and drawing insights from dataExperience with occupational/non-occupational health claims managementPossess, or working towards, a Certified Human Resources Professional designation is preferredBroad knowledge of Human Resources practices and proceduresKnowledge of best practices and techniques related to short and long term disability case managementBroad familiarity with project management principles and practicesGeneral knowledge of total compensation and benefits practicesKnowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database applications and other standard corporate softwareUnderstanding of the values, vision and mission of Ottawa Community Housing and a commitment to support those objectivesKnowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and responsibilities of workers and supervisorsMust be familiar with all applicable statutory requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to area of workSkills and abilities:Demonstrated ability to apply data analytical methods, tools, and practicesExcellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressureAbility to write professionally, synthesize data and organize written material effectivelyTakes initiative and able to work independently and with minimal supervision while implementing a team-based approach to the service deliveryExcellent interpersonal skills allowing for appropriate skilled relationships with colleagues at all levels within the organization, as well as, with external stakeholdersStrong attention to detail allowing for thoroughness and accuracy in accomplishing tasksWorks in a confidential manner and demonstrates tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive issuesMakes appropriate judgement, able to assess potential risk to the corporation, and recognizes when issues should be escalatedDemonstrated ability to gather information and relay it clearly, concisely and accuratelyProficiency in English, oral, reading and writing is required.Proficiency in French, oral, reading and writing is an assetProficient in the use of information technology such as mobile devices and computer systems in the performance of workOther requirements:Satisfactory Criminal Records CheckWork conditions:This is a full-time temporary hybrid position with on-site attendance as required.Other details about the role:Affiliation:Professional ExemptSalary:$84,943.85 - $106,907.90 per yearOCH is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities.
