Location: ALS Geochemistry, North Vancouver Reports to: Fire Assay ManagerAbout the PositionIndependently supports Fire Assay warehouse operations- covering receiving, inventory management, supply storage, issuing dispatching. This role combines heavy equipment operation, rigorous sample traceability, and strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols to support daily production goals.Specific ResponsibilitiesInventory, Receiving & DispatchReceive, store, issue, and dispatch consumables, reagents, and other Fire Assay materialsReceive flux and other dry reagents, including internal transfers from the main warehouse, and verify counts, labels, seals, paperwork, and inventoryReceive consumables and reagents and check certificates of analysis, lot numbers, and expiry dates where applicableIssue materials to production against requisitions and record batch and lot traceabilityWarehouse Operations & EquipmentOperate propane-driven forklift and electric pallet jack in a safe and effective mannerDump cupels, crucibles, slag waste, and manage super sacksLoad trailers using the forklift and safely maneuver the electric pallet jack inside the trailerWork at height using approved equipment, including forklift and man-cage, where authorizedOperate warehouse and support equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, label printers, and scannersMaintain minimum and maximum stock levels for crucibles, cupels, flux, litharge, and other materialsTracking, Documentation & Quality ControlConduct cycle counts and monthly stock takes and investigate inventory variancesRegister and scan barcodes, or tracking sheets and maintain chain-of-custody recordsSort, stage, and deliver supplies to Fire Assay sections including fusion, cupellation, and finishing according to priorityMaintain records including receiving logs, inventory reports, and temperature or humidity records where requiredSafety, Housekeeping & ComplianceFollow chemical handling rules, SDS requirements, PPE requirements, and segregation of incompatible materialsSupport hazardous waste handling, including lead-containing waste, spent cupels, and slag, in accordance with proceduresPerform courtyard clean-up,
including disposal of wood and metal waste into designated binsDispose of lead wastewater in the designated tote in accordance with established proceduresManage Fire Assay supplies and maintain cleanliness of the warehouse floor and storage areasMaintain clean and organized storage areas, clear aisles, and proper racking standardsReport incidents, spills, damaged goods, and near-misses immediatelyEnsure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered toEnsure cleaning and maintenance schedules are completeObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedFire Assay operation supportCrucible management and set up/prepare samples for fusion; Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools; Assist on Fire Assay floor housekeeping on a regular basis.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesCore Technical Warehouse CompetenciesFamiliarity with warehouse, inventory, and material handling processesBasic computer skills including LIMS, Excel, and ERP systemsTraceability-focused mindset with the ability to maintain chain-of-custody recordsUnderstanding of hazardous materials, warehouse safety practices, and chemical handling requirementsGood physical stamina and safe manual handling practicesWork Style & Behavioural AttributesStrong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skillsOrganized and highly motivated individualDetail-oriented individualSafety oriented.Communication & TeamworkStrong teamwork and communication skillsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamAbility to effectively handle a high volume of work and time-critical issuesRequired QualificationsCompletion of High School Education requiredWarehousing experience preferredForklift license, where required, with demonstrated safe operationLaboratory, warehouse, or industrial experience in a production-oriented environment would be an assetExperience handling chemicals, consumables, or production materials would be an asset.Physical DemandsLifting & MobilityAble to lift up to 50lbsAble to stand and walk for a full shiftAble to sit at a desk and do general office work,
