About The OpportunityOur client, a well-established not-for-profit organization located downtown Ottawa, is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their growing team. This is a newly created, permanent full time position reporting to the Director, Finance.The Senior Financial Accountant will support the finance function through accounting, financial reporting, audit support, compliance and process improvement, bringing strong technical knowledge, sound judgment and practical problem-solving skills to drive accurate reporting and continuous improvement.Duties include but are not limited to:Prepare financial statements, working papers, reconciliations and supporting schedulesLead and participate in month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activitiesAnalyze complex accounting transactions and ensure they comply with applicable accounting standards and funding agreementsLead and coordinate external audit activitiesCollaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis on budgeting, forecasting and financial reportingMaintain and improve accounting processes, procedures and internal controlsImplement finance policies, internal controls and compliance frameworksSupport the use of automation,



AI and other tools to improve finance workflowsDocument procedures and share knowledge with colleagues to support consistency and continuityProvide backup support across key finance activities, as requiredAbout YouCPA designationMinimum of 7 years of relevant accounting experienceStrong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and the ability to apply accounting standardsWorking knowledge of Canadian tax requirements relevant to not-for-profit organizations, including commodity taxes and taxable benefitsStrong ability to analyze complex financial information and recommend practical actionsStrong process improvement skills, with the ability to identify efficiencies and improve consistency in finance workflowsExperience with process automation is an assetAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and high proficiency using ERP systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departmentsStrong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, both independently and as part of a teamSound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive financial informationAbout the JobPermanent, full-time positionSalary range: $105,000 to $135,000 annuallyExcellent medical and dental benefits, generous vacation package, RRSP matchingHybrid: 2-3 days a week onsite#J-18808-Ljbffr
