Electro‐Mechanical CNC Retrofit Technician – Canada Machine Tool Solutions | Renishaw CanadaRenishaw is a global leader in precision metrology, calibration, and manufacturing technologies. We are seeking an Electro‐Mechanical CNC Retrofit Technician to join our Machine Tool Solutions team in Canada.Role OverviewIn this role, you will install, commission, and support Renishaw machine tool products on a wide variety of CNC platforms. You will work hands‐on with machine tools, electrical cabinets, control systems, and software—acting as a technical expert for customers, OEMs, and internal teams. You will apply both electrical and mechanical disciplines daily, diagnosing integration issues, optimizing machine performance, and delivering reliable measurement solutions in active production environments.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, retrofit, and commission Renishaw probing, tool setting, calibration, and motion systems on CNC machine toolsPerform hands‐on electrical and mechanical integration, including:Reading and troubleshooting electrical schematicsWiring sensors, interfaces, and control componentsMechanical mounting, alignment, and adjustment of measurement hardwareDiagnose and resolve issues involving CNC controls, machine I/O, feedback systems, and kinematicsConfigure and validate probing cycles, macros, and machine calibration routines on customer machinesSupport and optimize Renishaw PC‐based software used for calibration, inspection, and process controlTrain customers and partners on system operation, best practices, and basic troubleshootingProvide technical support during demonstrations, proof‐of‐concept trials, and application evaluationsCommunicate clearly with customers, sales engineers, and internal technical teams to ensure successful project outcomesRequired Experience & BackgroundAdvanced diploma or higher in a supporting field,



or equivalent hands‐on experience in:Electro‐mechanical technologyIndustrial maintenanceCNC machine serviceAutomation or manufacturing systemsStrong electrical fundamentals, including:Electrical schematics and wiring diagramsSensors, relays, and I/OSafe troubleshooting practices around live equipmentPractical mechanical aptitude, including use of hand tools, alignment techniques, and machine hardware installationComfort working inside CNC control cabinets and on operating machine toolsPreferred QualificationsExperience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similarFamiliarity with CNC probing systems, tool measurement, or machine calibration technologiesUnderstanding of G‐codeBackground in machine tool retrofits, rebuilds, or automation integrationHands‐on experience working directly on CNC machine tools in a service, retrofit, OEM, or manufacturing environmentExperience supporting production machining environments (mills, lathes, multi‐axis machines)Skills & CompetenciesStrong problem‐solving skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systemsAbility to work independently in the field and manage multiple customer engagementsClear communication skills for customer interaction, training, and technical reportingProfessional, safety‐conscious approach when working in active manufacturing environmentsWillingness to travel within CanadaCompensation & Benefits$70,000 to $90,000 CAD, depending on experience and locationCompany vehicle for business travelHealth, dental, and vision coverageRRSP with company matchLife insurance and long‐term disabilityPaid vacation, sick time, and company holidaysPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsRegular standing, bending, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)Work performed on customer shop floors in proximity to operating CNC machineryExposure to noise,
