As a Hydrologist, you will join our interdisciplinary team of water resources scientists and environmental professionals. You have a passion for water resources, are technically skilled in implementing and managing field programs, and apply your expertise to practical solutions.This position is permanent full-time based out of our Smithers or Prince George, British Columbia, office. As a member of our Water Resources team, you will lead and support hydrology, climate, and water resource related projects to enhance our Environmental Services offering in a variety of sectors. managing, and implementing hydrometric and climate monitoring programs, including equipment selection, station installation, datalogger programming, and streamflow measurementsEstablishing hydrometric networks and baseline data collection programsCompiling, processing, and managing large water resources and meteorological datasets, including development of baseline hydro-climate datasets and time-series analysisProcessing, managing, and analysing hydrometric data and environmental field data using industry standard software (e.G., Aquarius Time-Series)Assessing and interpreting data quality based on appropriate standards and guidelines (e.G., RISC, ECCC, ISO)Preparing technical reports and supporting regulatory approval and permitting applicationsLiaising with clients, stakeholders, Indigenous and jurisdictional governments to provide regulatory and/or technical guidance for effective and responsible project advancementProviding guidance, training and direction to junior team members to support successful completion of projects and deliverablesParticipating proactively in EDI's health and safety programWe are looking for someone with:Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities and the ability to make timely decisionsDemonstrated experience in field hydrometric and meteorological monitoring, including station installation, streamflow measurements, and experience with northern hydrometeorologyAbility to manage tasks according to scope of work,



on time and within budgetStrong organizational, interpersonal skills and exceptional time management skillsWillingness to foster a professional, productive, and growth-minded work environmentAble to simultaneously organize and manage tight timelines and multiple prioritiesAble to travel for field work in remote locations and/or between our officesJob requirements include:A bachelor's or graduate degree in Geosciences, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experienceProfessional registration (PGeo, PEng, or PAg), or eligibility for registrationA minimum of 5 years of experience in hydrology or water resources, including experience in environmental consultingField experience and working knowledge including streamflow gauging techniques, design, coordinating, and implementing hydrometric monitoring programsExperience with hydrometric and hydrologic data analysis, including rating curve development, calculation of key hydrologic indices, and statistical analysisExperience with hydrologic software, statistical analysis software, R [RStudio], and CSHS hydrology tools are considered an assetClass 5 driver's licenseApplication deadline – October 15, 2026The typical compensation range for this position is from $85,000 – $110,000 annually; the compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.At EDI, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and team members.
