We offer the following:A 21-hour work week, a minimum of four weeks of paid vacation, plus multiple other categories for days off to support your work–life balance.A competitive salary range of $49,611 to a current maximum of $63,827.A full range of 100 per cent employer-paid benefits for you and your eligible family members.Free on-site parking, outdoor patio, cafeteria, library, access to an on-site gym and multifaith/quiet spaces.The OpportunityReporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Officer works collaboratively within the Government, Communications team to enhance the ATA's communication approaches and overall engagement with internal and external audiences. Responsibilities and portfolios may shift according to changing operational needs; however, the incumbent is required to research, plan, develop, implement and evaluate communications strategies and audience outreach success when shaping and delivering key messages that promote ATA's initiatives, programs, services and events. Specific responsibilities include the following:Managing the ATA's social media presence and analyzing social media metrics with a view to guiding future social media campaignsPlanning, editing and creating engaging content for the ATA's social media channels,



with a priority for ATA campaigns and emergent issuesMonitoring social media analytics and using the results to improve contentDeveloping and implementing social media strategies for member engagement for major ATA events such as Provincial Executive Council elections and bargainingImplementing and maintaining the ATA's LinkedIn through leadershipMonitoring social media channels to identify misleading, incorrect or harmful information being disseminated about the ATA, the membership or public educationDeveloping social media guidelines and strategies for use by ATA staff, leaders and subgroupsProducing news articles for the ATA NewsTaking photographs at events as requiredProviding backup to the other Communications Officers as requiredProviding support as required for meetings, committees, conferences and other departmental activities.QualificationsA diploma in communications or equivalent education and experienceThree to five years of experience in communications, with at least one year in a social media role or setting (equivalencies will be considered)Experience writing for multiple social media platformsExperience utilizing various mediums of communication, including social media (X, Facebook, Instagram and others), public facing websites,



SharePoint sites and Microsoft TeamsCompetency in developing quick and engaging content for social media, including photography, graphics and short videosProficiency in using Microsoft Office, Canva and other related media design software platformsKnowledge and understanding of current trends in digital and social mediaSolid understanding of copyright and privacy legislationStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate to diverse audiences using inclusive language approachesStrong organization and project management skills with high standards and an attention to detailAbility to multitask, prioritize work assignments and collaborate effectivelyA strong sense of diplomacy, tact and risk management when working with external and internal stakeholdersAble to drive to events occasionally and work irregular hours during times of emergent communication needsExperience with NationBuilder and a working knowledge of basic HTML are assetsExperience working in a member-driven association is an assetAbility to communicate in written and spoken French is an assetAs an employer, the ATA aims to reflect and respond to the diversity of our membership, staff and the public.
