Site Description: Located in Mi'kma'ki, Saint Mary's University (SMU) is a public institution known for its multicultural campus and strong academic reputation.Position: Security OfficerSite: SMUHours: 4-day on 4-day off (4 days-4 off-4 nights)- 0800-2000Hrs, 2000-0800HrsKey Responsibilities:Answer telephone calls and queries at the Security Desk and take appropriate actionMaintain a daily Occurrence Log of all events, as they happenDispatch Security Officers, as required, to various locations where security presence is requiredMaintain computerized logsMaintains Key Issue Logs and issue, recover and account for keysMonitor security cameras/video recording equipmentMonitor equipment status and request repairsMonitor security alarm systems and take appropriate actionMonitor the key press, noting all missing/non-returned keysPrint all required reports, as applicableAssist in orientation or training of new dispatch staffMonitor fire control panel and direct Security Officers on fire emergencies in accordance with university proceduresLiaise with the access control company to affect repairs on CCure access control system or associated doors/alarms, as requiredLiaise with maintenance for repairs or response to facilities emergencies, such as floods or leaks, in accordance with information received from the Shift SupervisorLiaise with Facilities Management for clean-up response to floods or other spillsAccept and account for lost and found itemsOther duties and assignments, as delegated by the University Security Manager.Prerequisites:Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova ScotiaMust currently hold a valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)English (oral and written) fluency is a mustPrevious experience in security, law enforcement,
