Overview

Smitty's Family Restaurant in Sussex is looking for an experienced Line Cook to join our kitchen team.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a busy restaurant kitchen, can work efficiently during high-volume meal periods, and takes pride in preparing consistent, quality food.

This is a permanent, full time position offering approximately 32–40 hours per week. Morning, evening and weekend availability is required.

Wage: $16.40–$18.00 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to Smitty's recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
Work various kitchen stations, including grill, fryer and food preparation areas.
Prepare ingredients and complete prep work for daily service.
Read and manage food orders accurately and efficiently.
Maintain consistent food quality and portion control.
Follow proper food handling, sanitation and food safety procedures.
Keep workstations clean, organized and stocked throughout the shift.
Work efficiently during busy breakfast, lunch and dinner periods.
Assist with opening, closing and general kitchen cleaning duties.
Communicate and work well with other kitchen and restaurant team members.





Requirements
Minimum 1 year of previous professional kitchen or line-cook experience preferred.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant setting.
Good understanding of food preparation and safe food-handling practices.
Able to work independently while also being part of a team.
Reliable and able to manage multiple orders during busy periods.
Available for a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Food Safety certification is an asset.
