The African Studies Centre at the University of Toronto seeks a Sessional Lecturer for the course AFR357H1S, focusing on Lusophone Africa and the Black Atlantic. The role includes delivering in-person classes while developing and grading assignments.
Starting January 1, 2027, and concluding April 30, 2027, you will teach Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This position requires a completed Ph.D. in relevant fields like Comparative Literature or African Studies, and prior teaching experience is preferred. You will engage students by exploring cultural narratives, historical contexts, and identity intersectionality.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and deliver engaging course content
• Develop and grade assignments, tests, and exams
• Calculate and submit final grades
• Hold regular office hours for student support
• Focus on in-person teaching methods
Requirements:
• Completed Ph.D. in applicable fields
• Scholarly background in African Studies or related areas
