Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern, British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor adventure at your fingertips.Role OverviewA vacancy exists in the Metallurgy and Technology Team for a Technician Trainee, Metallurgy and Technology, who will report to a superintendent or their designate.The job group for this role will range between 23 and 31 and be determined based on experience as per the Technician Starting Schedule.This position will support the Leaching and E&M business areas but may include rotations to other plants or to specific project activities. Please note that the work schedule for this position is primarily 5x2 but may require working on other shifts (including nights) to support plant testing and trials.Key ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresOperate, troubleshoot and modify laboratory and pilot-scale equipmentAssist with design and construction of laboratory and pilot-scale set‐upsAssist with updating process drawings, such as flowsheets and P&IDsAssist with technical investigations, including plant sampling, measurement of operating parameters, and visual observations which contribute to the development and improvement of operating plant processes and process controlProvide technical data compiled from various sources, along with preliminary analyses of the dataAssist with the process development,
start-up, and handover stages of projectsWrite reports on test work or plant sampling work conductedCommunicate effectively, both written and verbal, with supervision, trades personnel, project leaders and other technical personnelQualificationsGraduate of a recognized Institute of Technology or university in metallurgical, mineral processing or chemical sciences is requiredCandidates with working knowledge of physical, chemical and metallurgical processes will be given preferenceWorking towards or eligible for registration with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) would be an assetAn ability to work both independently and as part of a team to contribute to the success of a technical group is requiredHighly organized self-starter with strong time management skills is a mustProficiency in computer systems: MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required Experience with process data systems and metallurgical modelling software is an assetPay Range: CAD $73,516 - $103,808 per yearThe actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.Why TeckAt Teck, your work matters—to the world, to our communities and to your future.As a leading Canadian resource company, we focus on responsibly providing the metals essential for global development and the energy transition while caring for the people, communities and land that we love.
