We stand firmly against individual and systemic discrimination and racism as per the Canadian Human Rights Act.Position Summary and Scope of ServiceReporting to the Case Supervisor, Community Services, the Direct Support Professional is responsible for the delivery of care and support to children and youth with intellectual disabilities. The Direct Support Professional provides services in accordance with the Mission and Values of the organization and provincial legislation and regulations.We are seeking multiple Direct Support Professionals who are looking to make meaningful connections supporting children/youth in their community.
These positions are located throughout the RM of Hanover (Manitoba).- These are casual positions therefore we have various flexible schedule.- Approximately 10-20 hours per week.- Typical shifts are weekday evenings and weekends.- Shift lengths usually vary between 3-6 hours depending on the child/youths' planned activities.- You may often be working collaboratively alongside other family members within the home.The DSP ensures that services are provided in ways that:Optimizes dignity, self-determination and attainment of personal outcomesMaximizes normal environmental and lifestyle featuresAre respectful of the foster home as a private residenceIncludes relevant education and trainingQualificationsEducational:Grade XII Diploma (or G.E.D.)Certification in CPR and Emergency First AidSuccessful completion of St.Amant training requirements during trial/probationary period (e.G. Specialized Behaviour Management Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Medical Orientation, etc.)Professional:Minimum of one year's experience providing services to individuals with disabilitiesKnowledge of current trends and services for individuals with disabilitiesAbility to follow individualized program plansPersonal:Positive, energetic, self-directedAbility to demonstrate a strong person-centered focusPhysical ability and emotional stability to support physical needs and respond appropriately to challenging behavior of people supportedAbility to function effectively as a team member and work collaboratively with foster providers, clinicians, professional staff,
collateral agencies and familiesAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingPossesses ability to identify and respond effectively to high-risk situationsAccess to a telephoneValid Manitoba Driver's License and Drivers Abstract in good standing.
