Responsible for providing leadership, training and guidance of the Quality Assurance team for all activities associated with the development, administration, and continuous quality improvement of the College’s Quality Assurance program (including activities associated with self-assessment, practice and knowledge assessments, remediation, and continuing professional development). Ensures the College’s Quality Assurance activities are conducted according to related legislation, regulation, organizational policies and strategic direction to meet the mandate of public protection. Responsible for management of the Quality Assurance team and all associated operational activities, including staff development and performance management, budget preparation and management, operational planning and performance monitoring, risk management and information management.
What you’ll do at OCP
Develop strategic operational objectives for the College’s Quality Assurance program and contribute to organization wide decisions, which align with the mandate of the College, legislative requirements for Quality Assurance and strategic priorities set out by the Board
Oversee the management of QA program activities, including practice and knowledge assessments, coaching self-assessment and learning portfolio.
Manage and supervise employees within the Quality Assurance department, including hiring, reviewing work plans, setting performance objectives, monitoring performance, providing performance feedback, assigning and reviewing work
In collaboration with Communications, manage all communication activities of QA related information for internal and external audiences.
Manage the dynamics of a diverse team while ensuring staff remain motivated; identify training and education needs and opportunities regarding legislation, regulatory, practice and assessment best practices
Act as primary staff resource for the Quality Assurance Committee including setting Committee meeting agenda with the Chair, managing orientation for new committee members, committee training and development, and ensuring preparation of meeting materials for all meetings.
In collaboration with Director,



Registration and Quality, serve as the Quality Assurance Committee staff liaison for issues requiring Board input or decision making.
Evolve components of the Quality Assurance Program to ensure relevant and reliable assessments of pharmacy professionals’ competency while also ensuring the programs meet legislative requirements for public protection related to pharmacy care.
In collaboration with other Departments (e.g., Legal, Technology Processes), manage the planning and development of the College’s Quality Assurance functions including vendor management, technology procurement/retention (update current systems, manage contracts)
Serve as a College representative and resource to other staff, departments, registrants, board members and external partners (including continuing education providers and other regulators) on relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and program performance related to the assessment and continued quality of registrant competency
Develop and manage the annual departmental budget
Contribute to the College’s risk management program, including identification, analysis and management of internal and external risks associated with Quality Assurance functions.
Continually examine work process and explore opportunities for improving efficiencies through technology, elimination or altering of work processes and make recommendations to the Director, Registration and Quality
Work within records management principles and guidelines for record keeping
Other reasonable duties as assigned by Director, Registration and Quality
What we’re looking for
Knowledge of regulatory and pharmacy related legislation, College policies, guidelines and standards of practice.
Demonstrated skills in budget forecasting, project management, change management and research processes/methodologies through experience in a diverse range of projects
Ability to build, maintain and support team cohesiveness to ensure overall needs of the department are being met




Ability to provide guidance and direction to staff, assess training needs and address performance issues
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and relationships with stakeholders
Judgment and discretion; ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive material
Self-motivation and solid organization skills to efficiently and effectively manage workload, deal with multiple demands and maintain composure while progressing toward desired outcomes
Tact, diplomacy and influence with all internal and external stakeholders
Ability to deal effectively with system partners over the telephone and in person and defuse difficult situations as required
Experience delivering presentations and/or workshops to a variety of audiences
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and relational databases
What experience we prefer
Education
A Degree in a related field such as Health Care, Pharmacy, or equivalent plus member in good standing of relevant regulatory body
Master’s degree in a related field would be considered an asset
Work Experience
Must have 7-9 years of related progressive professional and supervisory experience within a health care system
Knowledge of legislation, College policies, guidelines and standards of practice would be considered an asset
