Work Term: Permanent Work Language: English Hours: 40 hours per week Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years Work site environment Dusty Work setting Various locations Tasks Calculate fixed assets and depreciation Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions Address customers' complaints or concerns Professionalism in customer service Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations Load and unload goods Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment Pay and receive payments for goods Perform emergency roadside repairs Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle Perform preventive maintenance Receive and relay information to central dispatch Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo Transport and handle dangerous goods Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses AZ class license Air Brakes Endorsement Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Driver's License (Class 1 or A) Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate Documentation knowledge Accident or incident reports Bill of lading Dangerous goods occurrence reports Driver logbook Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip) Maintenance and repair reports Trans-border documentation Trip reports Type of trucking and equipment Dry bulk Extended length tractor-trailer combination Refrigerated Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles)
