About the Role We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the civil, earthworks, and below-grade utilities scope on a major data centre campus just north of Edmonton.
The project is a joint venture, with the client leading civil and a joint venture partner leading the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scope.
The broader project team brings together leading engineering and construction firms, with up to approximately 3,000 tradespeople on site at peak construction.
Earthworks, including initial paving, is already underway, and the majority of the civil, heavy civil, and utilities work is still ahead.
This is a long-term opportunity with an estimated 3 to 5 year duration, and one of the strongest chances in the province to take ownership of a scope at this scale.
Responsibilities Lead the civil, earthworks, and below-grade utilities scope for the data centre project, and act as a resource to Operations teams, providing project management guidance and support Manage multiple or large project scopes with an emphasis on project engineering Lead constructability reviews during Preconstruction and work with the Preconstruction team to prepare estimates Participate in and lead tenders, bid leveling, scope reviews, and award meetings Oversee execution of client contracts Lead Operational Review Meetings (ORM) and Owner Architect Contractor (OAC) meetings Communicate and negotiate with Architects and Engineers on issues that affect project outcomes Develop and review Project Execution Plans (PEP) and Quality Control (QC) Plans Lead project start-up and maintain oversight of procedures throughout the project Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance requirements Review schedules weekly and develop mitigation plans when work falls behind Lead project forecasting and attend forecasting meetings with project teams Lead the development of Risk Registers and risk mitigation planning Manage QC inspections to confirm installations match contract documents and approved shop drawings Maintain a strong on-site presence, with regular jobsite visits and meetings Train, coach,
and evaluate project staff, and hold regular performance and development discussions with direct reports Maintain Launch and Closeout Boards and report on project status at Launch and Closeout meetings Share best practices across projects, lead lean and continuous improvement initiatives, and roll out new technologies on site Qualifications Required 8+ years of Project Management or construction leadership experience Direct experience managing large-scale below-grade utilities construction Civil and earthworks experience Genuine senior-level leadership capability Comfortable working primarily on site Bachelor's degree, diploma, or certificate in Civil Engineering , Construction, or a related program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Solid knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, engineering principles, and accounting procedures Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to manage concurrent priorities for self and team Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite Legally eligible to work in Canada Preferred Experience on large industrial, infrastructure, or campus-style projects ($150M to $10B) ICI or commercial building experience (a strong asset) Previous formal leadership experience Familiarity with lean culture and concepts and continuous improvement methods Edmonton-based; candidates across Canada are welcome if willing to relocate permanently Why Join?
