Heavy Duty Mechanic
to join our
Ladysmith Sawmill Operation
located in
Ladysmith
, BC. What We Offer:
This is a PPWC unionized position with a wage rate of
$47.69/hour
as per the collective agreement Hourly premiums of
$0.60/hour
on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift Health & Dental Benefits provided through the union Pension plan provided through the union A safe work environment Shifts:
Shifts can be days, afternoons, graveyards or weekends and could change at any time depending on seniority and operational needs. Please inquire within to learn more. This position is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test. RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate and follow westerns health and safety program and policies; Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical on mobile fleet; Work with dealers/vendors on maintaining inventory on critical components of equipment; Perform minor welding repairs on equipment; Ensure equipment repair log books are up to date and accurate; Maintain a organized and clean shop; Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Must be fully ticketed Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic; All applicants must have a valid BC driver's license and be able to provide a driver's abstract. Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast sawmill equipment (forklifts, boom boats, skid steers and log Loaders); Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills are a benefit; Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision; Excellent safety record and strong work ethic; Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills; Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving,
