ACCOUNT MANAGER – INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION$80,000 - $95,000 + Profit-Based BonusCambridge, ONOn-Site / Travel-BasedTHE ROLEOur client is a leading industrial automation and systems integration company based in Cambridge, Ontario, providing controls and automation solutions to customers across a range of industrial and manufacturing environments. They are seeking an Account Manager with hands-on industrial automation experience and a robust customer-facing sales or account management background.This is a highly technical and commercially focused role for someone who understands automation and can confidently work with customers, engineers, project teams, and decision-makers.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business, expanding existing customer relationships, identifying automation opportunities, supporting quotations and proposals, and managing the commercial performance of assigned projects.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automation professional who wants to move further into technical sales, business development, and account management, while maintaining close connections to the technical side of the industry.ADVANTAGESCompetitive base salary of $80,000 - $95,000Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM; 1-hour lunch breakProfit-based bonus programAnnual vehicle allowanceSignificant opportunity for additional earnings through performance-based compensationCustomer-facing role with strong autonomy and relationship-building responsibilitiesOpportunity to work with a technically sophisticated industrial automation and systems integration teamExposure to electrical engineering, controls design, PLC/HMI programming, robotics,
commissioning, and project managementOpportunity to develop new business and expand existing customer relationshipsStrong opportunity for long-term career growth within a growing organizationRESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, including plant engineers, project managers, superintendents, and key decision-makers.Identify, prospect, and pursue recent business opportunities within industrial automation and systems integration.Generate leads through cold calling, networking, customer visits, and ongoing market development.Identify customer requirements and recommend appropriate automation, controls, systems integration, and control panel solutions.Prepare and support quotations, proposals, estimates, and tender submissions.Lead technical presentations and customer reviews as required.Monitor customer requirements, upcoming projects, and market opportunities to identify potential new business.Work closely with engineering, programming, project management, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.Manage the commercial and financial performance of assigned projects, including profitability, billing, scope changes, and change orders.Monitor project costs, deliverables, schedules,
and customer requirements.Maintain accurate sales activity, opportunity, quotation, and customer records.Participate in sales planning, budgeting, and business development initiatives.Travel regularly to customer sites throughout the region and support customers as required.Maintain strong post-sale relationships and identify opportunities for repeat and additional business.REQUIREMENTS5+ years of hands-on industrial automation experience – MUST HAVEPrevious experience in technical sales, account management, business development, or customer-facing project managementStrong understanding of industrial automation, controls, and systems integrationAbility to understand and discuss PLC, HMI/SCADA, electrical drawings, controls systems, and industrial automation solutionsProven ability to generate leads, develop customer relationships, and identify new business opportunitiesStrong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skillsComfortable conducting customer meetings, technical discussions, presentations, and site visitsStrong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving abilityComfortable with significant travel to customer sitesSelf-motivated, organized, persistent, and comfortable working independentlyStrong business and commercial acumen with an understanding of project profitabilityAbility to work collaboratively with engineering, programming, project management, and operations teamsPost-secondary education is an asset but not requiredExperience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD is an assetValid driver's license and ability to travel as required
