ABOUT THE ROLE
Reports to: VP Engineering & Advisory
Exergy is seeking a motivated and detailed‑oriented Process Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in Calgary, Alberta to join our team. This role requires a strong technical aptitude and a passion for solving real‑world challenges . and impact . The successful candidate will support Exergy’s multi‑disciplinary team across both engineering and advisory projects and will be expected to apply engineering first principles, critical thinking, and a go‑getter attitude to deliver outstanding work products and outcomes .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
At Exergy, our work is often challenging yet fulfilling. We pride ourselves in thinking outside the box, offering unique problem solving and sound technical expertise, while exhibiting agility in project execution.
The key responsibilities of this role are as follows:
Work with more senior team members to develop process engineering deliverables, including but not limited to process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, P&ID;’s, equipment and instrumentation datasheets, control narratives, cause and effect diagrams, test plans, and technical reports.
Interact with equipment vendors to specify and design equipment.
Perform fundamental process calculations.
Develop process simulations.
Incorporate findings into project documentation and equipment design specifications.
Support fabrication, testing, commissioning and start‑up activities at Exergy’s Nexus or at client sites as required and appropriate.
Support advisory projects, including:
Conducting technology research, benchmarking, comparisons
Participating in technical evaluations and risk assessments
Developing of Excel‑based technoeconomic models and analyses
Developing strategic reports and executive‑ready PowerPoint presentations
QUALIFICATIONS

In this role, it is required to be t echnically proficient, proactive, detail oriented with a positive attitude and effective communication skills . Candidates for this position will possess the qualifications outlined below:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
At least one year relevant industry experience through internship or employment
Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g. Symmetry, HYSYS) and Microsoft office tools
Strong technical aptitude and curious mindset
Strong knowledge of the basic design principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement
