Finance Coordinator

The Opportunity
HockeyStickMan is looking for a detail-oriented Finance Coordinator to support the day-to-day accuracy and efficiency of our finance function. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will take primary responsibility for Accounts Payable and play an important role in maintaining strong controls around purchasing and vendor transactions.

A key focus will be three-way matching - ensuring purchase orders, item receipts and vendor bills align before payment and working with Procurement, Receiving and other internal teams to resolve discrepancies. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is organized, comfortable working with transaction detail, and willing to follow issues through to resolution. The position will also support the Director of Finance with additional accounting and finance responsibilities as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day Accounts Payable process, including reviewing, coding and entering vendor bills and maintaining accurate supporting documentation.

Perform three-way matching of purchase orders, item receipts and vendor invoices before bills are approved for payment.

Identify pricing, quantity, receiving and documentation discrepancies and coordinate with Procurement, Receiving, Operations and Vendors to resolve them promptly.

Maintain accurate vendor accounts, investigate discrepancies and respond to vendor inquiries.

Prepare vendor payments and supporting documentation for review and approval in accordance with company internal controls.

Monitor outstanding Accounts Payable transactions and follow up on unresolved issues to past due transactions and month-end cleanup.

Support month-end close activities related to Accounts Payable,



Purchasing and Vendor Transactions.

Assist with account reconciliations, reporting and other finance processes as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Help document and improve AP processes, controls and workflows as HockeyStickMan scales.

Provide additional accounting and finance support to the Director of Finance based on business needs and evolving departmental priorities.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For

2+ years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable or Finance Coordination.

A Bachelor of Commerce Degree or College Certificate in Accounting

Hands-on experience with Purchase Orders, Vendor Invoices and Three-Way Matching is strongly preferred.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and investigate discrepancies rather than simply process transactions.

Good understanding of basic Accounting Principles and the Accounts Payable cycle.

Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and a high volume of transactions.

Comfort working across departments to resolve issues involving POs, receipts, invoices and vendor accounts.

Clear written and verbal communication skills and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.

Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills

NetSuite experience is a strong asset.

Experience in Retail, Wholesale, and / or Ecommerce

This is a hybrid role and will be in office 2 - 3 days a week at our Vaughan location ( Hwy 7 & Jane)
