Full time | 40 hours per week- Temporary Maternity Leave Coverage CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Southern Alberta. Since our inception in 1981, we have been a community leader with solid experience in the design and delivery of comprehensive services for our newest neighbours. We deliver these services through a dynamic, multi-cultural, multi-denominational and multi-disciplinary team of professionals who collectively speak over 80 languages.
From airport reception to a first job interview, CCIS’s programs and services have been designed to assist immigrants and refugees through all phases of the settlement and integration process. CCIS – Community Development and Integration Services (CDIS) Division Our Community Development and Integration Services Division works towards empowering individuals and communities to make changes through education, volunteerism, and community development and integration strategies. CDIS is committed to creating a welcoming community and helping newcomers and the community alike work together to build an inclusive community. CDIS programs support this goal through various community approaches, including volunteerism, education, outreach, community development, and capacity building for cultural diversity.
Job Summary Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is seeking a highly motivated, community-minded individual to join our team. The Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS), the Immigrant Education Society (TIES), Centre for Newcomers (CFN), and Distress Centre (CS) have an ongoing project offering primary and secondary crisis supports to newcomers titled Building Equitable Newcomer Crisis Help (BENCH).
Functional Statement:
This position provides support and ongoing case management to clients after a mental health crisis. CCIS is hiring for this position within the Centre for Refugee Resilience program.
This position will collaborate closely with the rest of the BENCH team and partners. The crisis support caseworker acts as an integral team member in building resilience with immigrants who have experienced a recent mental health crisis, through coordinated community, social, and mental health support.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Facilitate individual and family intakes and collaboratively assess the crisis/client needs
Coordinate mental health and community support services according to the needs identified by the crisis clients and other partners
Provide assessment, safety planning, and interventions for clients in the months after a mental health crisis to identify support and strategies towards safety and stability.
Provide ongoing case management and maintain a cross-cultural caseload.
Engage natural support, including cultural support, to promote resilience
Bridge referrals to the community for ongoing support that suits clients’ needs
Build community capacity to respond to newcomer crisis needs
Liaise with clients’ support network to address the needs of shared crisis clients
Coordinate and participate in case conferences as needed
Work collaboratively with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team as part of the BENCH collaborative and within CCIS
Practice personal self-care and support the needs of team members
Complete evaluation and reporting of program activities that fit funder outcomes and indicators as outlined by the BENCH Project
Participate in the evaluative processes that fuel the project’s agile design
Qualifications and Skills Education Post-secondary degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related professional expertise
Experience Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders, maximizing collaboration and creative community solutions
Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse individuals and families
Experience providing support to individuals facing mental health challenges
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a multicultural and multidisciplinary setting
Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse individuals and families

Experience with not-for-profit agencies considered an asset
Experience in managing confidential client and program data
Competent verbal and written communication, computer skills
Knowledge/skills Knowledge and understanding of issues related to the successful settlement of newcomers
Demonstrates culturally relevant approaches to working with vulnerable newcomers
Anti-oppressive, trauma-informed lens practice
Excellent self-awareness and self-regulation skills in high-pressure environments
Knowledge of community and health resources in Calgary
Work Abilities: Written and verbal communication skills to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a multicultural and multidisciplinary setting
Flexibility to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings to accommodate clients; some work on evenings and weekends will be required
Ability to take initiative, work independently, organize one’s work and records
Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset

Specific requirements Current valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
