Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Dental Therapist will provide prevention services, diagnostic treatment planning, restorative/operative dental treatment, community and preventive dentistry services. The incumbent specializes in stimulating, coordinating, and delivering oral health promotion activities aimed at reducing disease and promoting oral health for people in the community. Incumbents must have an ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams. The incumbent will plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate the delivery of an active preventive oral health education and promotion program within the oral health qualified's scope of practice. This position provides supervision, program management, and direction to the Oral Health Program.

2 years' experience as a Dental Therapist

Education

Graduate from a recognized Dental Therapy program

Licenses

Valid Class 5 driver's license

Registered Dental Therapist (RDT)

Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work in a cross cultural setting

Ability to work in isolated areas, as required

Knowledge of program planning process

Creative problem solving in an open and resourceful manner

Computer skills an asset

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Highly developed organizational and multi-tasking skills

Knowledge of oral health principles & their relationship to health and disease

Highly developed written and oral communication skills

Ability to travel on remote roads or fly in small aircraft to remote communities

Ability to develop and present oral health education/training to various groups

Knowledge of current infection control standards, practices and protocols

Knowledge of health promotion, public relations projects and/or media

Effective interpersonal relationship skills

Other Information

Position is a multi-site with travel to Sandy Bay.
