Transdev Western Canada is looking for a Business Development Specialist- Transportation
Help shape what comes next.
Are you curious about what makes businesses grow? Do you enjoy researching new ideas, connecting with people, and turning a promising conversation into an opportunity?
Transdev Canada is looking for a Junior Business Development Specialist to help grow our transportation business. If you’re commercially curious, proactive, and eager to learn, this is an opportunity to build your career while contributing to services that connect people and communities.
The role
Working closely with our business development and operations teams, you’ll explore new markets, connect with prospective clients, and help develop proposals that turn opportunities into new business.
You’ll gain exposure to the full business development process, from spotting an emerging customer need to helping shape a competitive bid. Your research, ideas, and initiative will help inform where we go next.
You don’t need to be a business development expert on day one. We’re looking for someone who asks thoughtful questions, enjoys starting conversations, and follows through.
How you’ll make an impact
Discover where we can grow. Explore recent markets, sectors, and customer needs to identify opportunities for our transportation services.
Start conversations. Connect with prospective clients through outreach, networking, and industry events, building relationships and generating qualified leads.
Follow market trends and competitor activity, assess potential opportunities, and help build a strong business development pipeline.
Work with colleagues across the business to develop compelling proposals, tenders, and RFP responses that address each client’s needs.
Contribute to commercial decisions.
Support discussions around client solutions, pricing approaches, and what makes our offer stand out.
Maintain clear records, coordinate information, and follow through on next steps so promising leads continue to progress.
What you bring
You’re curious about how businesses operate and confident enough to reach out to someone new. You enjoy both the people side of business development and the research behind a well-informed recommendation.
1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, transportation, logistics, consulting, or a related field. Equivalent experience or a strong interest in the industry will also be considered.
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to turn information into clear, useful insights.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including comfort initiating contact with prospective clients.
Strong writing skills and attention to detail, particularly when contributing to proposals and bids.
Initiative, organisation, and the ability to manage several opportunities and deadlines.
A collaborative approach and an interest in learning from operations, commercial, and leadership teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with CRM systems is an asset.
Knowledge of transportation, logistics, mobility, infrastructure, or related sectors is an advantage.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to build a broad commercial foundation early in your career. You’ll work alongside business development and operations colleagues, learn how transportation solutions are developed, and see how research, relationships, and strategy come together to win business.
At Transdev, our values: Care, Share, Dare, Deliver, guide how we work. We value people who share ideas, take initiative, and care about delivering services that make a difference.
