JobSummary
TheBuilding Service Support Worker at Phoenix Society is responsible for keeping buildings in a clean and orderly condition. The position isexpected to perform light to heavy cleaning duties. Other duties may includetending to the furnace and boiler; performing routine maintenance activities;cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, and washing walls and glass; removinggarbage; notifying management of need for repairs; and cleaning snow or debrisfrom sidewalks.
Responsibilities
CustodialServices
Cleanbuilding floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming
Gatherand empty all garbage, recycling and compost bins
Service,clean and supply restrooms
Cleanand polish furniture and fixtures
Cleanwindows, glass partitions and mirrors
Dustfurniture, walls, machines and equipment
Steam-cleanand/or shampoo carpets or rugs
Strip,seal, finish and polish floors
Followprocedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
Moveheavy furniture, equipment and supplies either manually or by using hand trucks.Notify Maintenance of any furniture or equipment requiring repair orreplacement
Removesnow and debris from sidewalks, in accordance with City bylaws
Performshousekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting,washing dishes, performs laundry duties such as washing linens and clothing.
Notifythe campus manager for follow-up when unauthorized persons are observed to beon the grounds or within buildings
Notifythe campus manager for follow-up when clients are observed to be breakingPhoenix Society policies, procedures or guidelines
Usingappropriate tools, collect and dispose of drug paraphenalia, trash and fecesfrom the entranceways and walkways immediately adjacent to the buildings
Setup, arrange and remove decorations, tables and chairs to prepare facilities forevents such as banquets and meetings
Performother duties as requested
MaintenanceServices
Openand/or close buildings, check alarm systems, and check premises to guardagainst theft, fire, illegal entry, etc.
Monitorbuilding security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors aftercleaning and checking electrical appliances to ensure that hazards are notcreated
Conductminor maintenance such as unclogging toilets, changing lightbulbs that arereachable from the floor, and small drywall repairs
NotifyMaintenance concerning the need for major repairs, minor renovations, i.e.,patch and paint, or additions to building operating systems
Submitto Maintenance Requisition for supplies and equipment needed for cleaning andmaintenance duties. Receive and distribute supplies and equipment
Monitorthe facility for insect and other pest infestations. When required, notifyMaintenance to have a pest management contractor dispatched to site
Inspectand clean dryer vents weekly. Notify Maintenance of any if repairs are required
Maintainsand organizes cleaning equipment, materials and supplies
Greetcontractors at the campus front office and escort them to the job site
Performother duties as required
Qualifications
BuildingService Worker certificate with WHMIS training, or equivalent
1to 3 years of experience providing custodial and maintenance services
Abilityto lift heavy loads as required is required
Satisfactorycompletion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening isrequired
Satisfactorycompletion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
Satisfactorycompletion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
Firstaid certification with CPR is required
