We are always seeking dedicated individuals who share our values of integrity, being accountable, caring, and progressive.Site:Department:Diagnostic and Therapeutic ServicesStatus:Part-timeSalary Scale:$37.66/hr to $39.01/hrPOSITION (Title):DEPARTMENT/SERVICE AREA:Therapeutic ServicesSITE:REPORTS TO (Title):Director of Therapeutic ServicesQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:Graduate of a Registered Practical Nursing Program and current Certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of OntarioCurrent CPRMinimum 3 years Registered Practical Nursing Experience, telemedicine experience considered an assetExperience in education, training and supervisionExperience working with physicians and other healthcare professionalsExhibits the ability and competence to work with all computer systems, applications and new technologyDemonstrated assessment skillsPossess excellent interpersonal skills including distinguished verbal communication abilitiesAbility to effectively communicate w ith various levels of external stakeholders and OTN staffAbility to work independently as well as in a teamFlexibility to respond to a fluctuating workload and a changing environmentPromotes opportunities for the use of telemedicineDependable, competent and continued ability to carry out responsibilitiesFamiliar with Occupational Health & Safety Workers' rights and responsibilitiesPhysically capable of performing the essential duties of the job.BASIC REPONSIBILITIES:Assist the telemedicine coordinator with the development, delivery and monitoring of high-quality organizational telemedicine initiatives for the corporation.Promote the use of telemedicine to healthcare professionals,



patients and the community on behalf of the corporation.Monitor the day-to-day function of patient appointments in the Telemedicine Units.Assist the telemedicine coordinator with ongoing clinical videoconferencing activities and associated administrative processes including scheduling and supervision of telemedicine service delivery.Maintain current knowledge base with respect to the field of telemedicine and telemedicine activities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains CNO Standards of PracticeFollows policies and procedures as set out by the corporationMaintains competence in all clinical skills pertaining to his/her areas of workPromotes a multi-disciplinary approach to client and family-centred careFacilitates patient/family educationCommunicates effectively with all providers of careUtilizes the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care on an ongoing basis. Co-ordinates planning of individual care plans with all disciplines and care providersMaintains the patients medical recordPreserves confidentiality of all clientsActs as a client advocate, respecting the dignity, worth and rights of each individual receiving telemedicine servicesAnticipate changes in the patient's condition and the likely need for support or medical assistanceAdhere to accepted standards of careAdopt an attitude of mindfulness and hazard awarenessAdhere to protocols and guidelines related to patient care and assessmentRecognize, respond,



and report adverse eventsCommunicate effectively for patient safetyHealth and Safety:Follows safe work practicesReports any unsafe conditionsPromotes and maintains a safe and healthy working environmentEvaluates work procedures and environments to identify potential hazards and ensures adequate controls are in placeHuman Resources:Participates in the orientation process and may assist with mentorship, additional skills training for co-workers where requestedProvides supervision of and/or mentorship of RPN's facilitating telemedicine as delegatedWill cover vacation requests received by telemedicine coordinator, as well as days when additional assistance is requiredCommunity Partners & Resources:Participates in Regional Telemedicine activities as delegatedHas knowledge of and collaborates with other community organizations and services to improve client care or provide continuing careHas a good working relationship with Regional Telehealth staff, physicians and Telehealth specialists. Collaborates to provide optimal utilization of services to provide the highest levels of careCooperates with other agencies in education regarding services and care available in the communityQuality Improvement:Participates in the hospital accreditation process and quality improvement initiativesEquipment:Provides input into plans for purchase of telemedicine equipmentEnsures adequate supplies and equipment are available for daily patient careEnsures he/she is appropriately educated in the use of all equipment prior to using and cares for all equipmentInitiates and follows up with maintenance and/or repairs of equipment as necessaryReports any equipment problems/failure to the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) Help DeskDevelop expertise in the use and care of Telemedicine equipmentOther Activities:Participates on teams/committees within the organization as requested/requiredSupport regular nurse participation in OTN training sessions, monthly meetings, and in the development and sharing of telemedicine best practices, support program monitoring and evaluation activities with OTN partners and/or the LHINCollection and reporting of required monthly telemedicine statistics and workload for the corporationCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:S atisfatory vulnerable sector screening
