We are looking for a Funding Accountant/ Specialist to support housing-related funding analysis and financial administration for a growing portfolio in Northwest Territories.
This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can work independently, interpret contribution agreements, and help build practical processes in an evolving environment.
The successful candidate will review funding eligibility, assess available financial support, and provide clear guidance on how funding applies to individual applications.
This role is fully remote, with occasional onsite travel covered if required.
Responsibilities: • Evaluate housing funding applications to determine eligible funding amounts and ensure alignment with contribution agreements and program guidelines. • Analyze costs, funding limits, and payment structures to provide accurate financial recommendations for each application. • Develop and document clear procedures to improve consistency, accountability, and efficiency across funding-related activities. • Work closely with finance, housing, and contract stakeholders to clarify funding criteria and support informed decision-making. • Track disbursements and funding commitments to maintain accurate records and strengthen financial oversight. • Prepare reports, summaries, and supporting analysis for leadership to highlight funding status, trends, and potential risks. • Use Excel and related financial tools to organize data, reconcile information, and support day-to-day analysis. • Contribute to process implementation efforts where funding administration requires new or improved workflows.
• 3-5 years of experience in funding analysis, accounting, financial administration, or a related area. • Demonstrated understanding of funding processes, contribution agreements, and federally funded programs. • Ability to interpret financial information and connect funding rules to applicant eligibility and support limits. • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage a high volume of applications accurately. • Self-directed approach with the ability to work independently in a remote setting. • Clear communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to a range of stakeholders. • Proficiency with Excel and comfort working with financial data and reporting tools. • Experience with process implementation or creating structured workflows is considered an asset.
