Engage with youth through supervision and support as a Youth Counsellor with the John Howard Society in Campbell River, BC. This temporary role focuses on individualized programming and community resource accessibility.
The Youth Counsellor – FTAP takes charge of monitoring youth in Full-Time Attendance Programs. You will provide individual and group programming aimed at developing crucial skills such as communication, anger management, and problem-solving. Your role will involve liaising with probation officers and engaging in ongoing case management alongside your team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and sustain supportive relationships with youth
• Develop intervention plans in collaboration with the case management team
• Facilitate youth access to community resources
• Assist in personal hygiene and basic care needs
• Conduct reporting on youth progress and incidents
Requirements:
• Post-secondary degree in counselling or related field
• Minimum two years’ experience with high-risk youth
• First Aid training required
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transport
