Contribute to marine safety with WCMRC as a Marine Engineer in Port Alberni, BC. This full-time position offers a chance to engage in spill response operations and equipment maintenance.
Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) seeks a Chief Engineer dedicated to protecting B.C.'s coast. This role involves responding to marine spill incidents, ensuring vessel operational readiness, and overseeing all mechanical systems. The four-day workweek allows for both planned and emergency response operations, with required travel based on incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support vessel operations during spill incidents and training exercises
• Maintain spill response equipment for operational readiness
• Oversee all mechanical systems on the vessel fleet
• Participate in shipyard periods and haul-outs
• Provide training and mentorship to new hires
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• 4th Class Marine Engineer certificate from Transport Canada
• Ability to lift up to 22 Kgs regularly
• Valid Seafarers Medical certification
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
