**Job Title: Overhead Crane Operator**
**Job Description**
The Lift Crew / Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating mobile cranes and supporting production and heavy lift activities in a agile industrial setting.

This role focuses on strict adherence to safety procedures, accurate execution of engineered lift plans, and effective collaboration with lift crew members and site personnel.
**Responsibilities**
Operate mobile cranes in accordance with provincial regulations, certification limits, and company safety standards.

Perform thorough pre-operational inspections on cranes and related equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Assist with rigging activities, including selecting, inspecting, and properly using slings, shackles, and other rigging gear.

Execute lifts in line with engineered lift plans and instructions provided by the Lift Supervisor.

Communicate clearly and consistently with spotters, riggers, and site supervisors using radios and standardized hand signals.

Participate actively in Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and toolbox meetings to identify and mitigate risks.

Maintain accurate documentation of lifts, equipment inspections, and safety records as required.

Support general lift crew duties when not operating the crane, including material handling and general labor tasks.

Assist with production-related activities such as general production, assembly, packing, picking, and shipping and receiving as needed.

Use hand tools, RF scanners, and other basic equipment safely and efficiently in support of operations.

Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and work instructions to maintain a safe working environment.

Complete a 4-day orientation and on-the-job evaluation, demonstrating safe work practices and competence in required tasks.
**Essential Skills**
Valid Alberta Hoisting Equipment Operator Certification for the appropriate crane class.

Minimum 2 years of experience operating cranes in industrial, construction, or energy operations.

Proven ability to operate overhead cranes and mobile cranes safely in a heavy industrial environment.

Experience with rigging practices, including the use and inspection of slings, shackles, and other rigging gear.

Strong understanding of safety regulations, lift plans, and hazard assessment processes.

Ability to read, understand, and follow engineered lift plans and supervisor instructions.

Clear verbal communication skills for effective coordination with spotters, riggers, and site supervisors.

Capability to use radios and standardized hand signals for crane and lift crew communication.

Basic proficiency in material handling, including packing, picking, and shipping and receiving activities.

Ability to use hand tools and operate equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners as required.

Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts and orientation.

Ability to work overnight shifts from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., Monday to Friday.

**Work Environment**
This role is based in a very large, brand-new, and clean industrial facility focused on heavy lift and production operations.

You will work overnight shifts from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., Monday to Friday. A comprehensive 4-day orientation is provided, including 3 days in the classroom and a 4th day of on-the-job evaluation and training, with sessions available from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The facility uses cranes, forklifts, hand tools, RF scanners, and other industrial equipment, and work is performed in a structured environment with clear safety protocols.

Each shift includes two paid 15-minute shuttle periods, one paid 15-minute rest break, and one unpaid 30-minute meal break, while maintaining eight hours of paid work per shift.

The workplace emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards, with appropriate industrial attire required for working in a heavy industry setting.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $32.81 - $35.81/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Calgary,AB.
