Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support a major capital project.
Reporting to the Lead I&C; Engineer, this individual will provide technical oversight of instrumentation and control system deliverables, support control system integration activities, and work closely with engineering contractors, operations teams, and project stakeholders throughout engineering, construction, and commissioning.
This role is based in Regina, SK and will support the integration of new control systems into an existing facility, including control room expansion and migration activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and provide feedback on:
○ Instrument data sheets
○ Control narratives
○ Instrumentation selections
○ EPC engineering deliverables
• Support DCS and SIS system design and integration activities.
• Participate in design reviews, equipment reviews, and technical workshops.
• Assist with control room expansion and control system migration initiatives.
• Support FAT and SAT testing activities.
• Conduct field investigations and provide site feedback to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, vendors, and EPC contractors throughout project execution.
• Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
Skills and Requirements
• 4+ years of Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor's in Instrumentation & Control Engineering
• Canadian Professional Engineer (P.
Eng.) designation (strong EIT candidates considered).
• Experience with:
○ DCS and SIS systems
○ Control logic and control narratives
○ Instrumentation selection and specifications
○ P&IDs; and process control fundamentals
○ Engineering document reviews
• Experience in heavy industrial environments such as refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, mining, or manufacturing.
• Solid communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary team
• Owner's Engineer, Owner's Representative, or owner/operator experience.
• Carbon capture or large capital project experience.
• FAT/SAT, commissioning, and startup support experience.
• Control system migration or control room modernization projects.
• Exposure to electrical systems including substations, switchgear, transformers, electric heat tracing, and power generation facilities.
•
Experience working with EPC contractors and reviewing third-party engineering deliverables.
