**Job Title: Custodial Worker**
**Job Description**
The Custodial Worker maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary production environment in a food manufacturing facility.

This role focuses on cleaning floors, lunchrooms, washrooms, production areas, and exterior grounds to support food safety, product quality, and workplace safety standards.

The position requires regular use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, adherence to sanitation procedures, and consistent completion of assigned tasks across multiple areas of the facility.
**Responsibilities**
Sweep and clean production floors to remove debris, residue, and waste materials, ensuring a safe and sanitary workspace.

Wash bins by placing them on skids, soaking them with approved cleaning solutions, allowing sufficient contact time, and thoroughly scrubbing to remove all dirt and buildup.

Report equipment issues, maintenance concerns, and safety hazards promptly to the appropriate supervisor.

Refill Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) stations consistently before and after every shift to ensure adequate supplies for all staff.

Empty all trash bins located throughout the interior of the plant, including production, warehouse, and common areas.

Sweep warehouse floors thoroughly, including specialized cleaning underneath storage racks and hard-to-reach areas.

Monitor, check, and maintain the sanitation cage continuously throughout the shift to ensure it remains organized and fully stocked.

Actively prioritize and respond to urgent sanitation requests from the production team to support continuous operations.

Sweep and mop all office and lunchroom floor surfaces to maintain cleanliness and safety.

Empty facility trash bins in offices and lunchrooms regularly to prevent overflow and maintain a tidy environment.

Sanitize high-touch surfaces in offices and lunchrooms, including tables, chairs, and common touch points such as door handles and light switches.

Wipe down and clean kitchen countertops, microwaves, and other shared appliances in lunchrooms and break areas.

Disinfect and sanitize washroom sinks, countertops, toilets, and surrounding fixtures to maintain a high standard of hygiene.

Monitor and refill washroom supplies, including toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap dispensers, as needed.

Regularly sweep and mop restroom floors to reduce slip hazards and maintain cleanliness.

Sweep exterior walkways, building steps, and loading dock areas to maintain safety and curb appeal.

Collect and dispose of trash around both facility buildings and the parking lot to keep the grounds clean and orderly.

Sweep and clean designated smoking areas, including removal of cigarette butts and related debris.

Complete the Daily Custodial Task List tracking sheet accurately by the end of each shift, documenting all completed tasks.

Provide signature verification confirming that all designated custodial tasks have been successfully completed for the shift.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to sanitation, food safety, and housekeeping in a food manufacturing environment.

Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and tools safely and in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members regarding task status, supply needs, and any issues encountered during the shift.
**Essential Skills**
At least 6 months of experience in custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or industrial cleaning work.

Experience working in a food manufacturing, food handling, or similar GMP-regulated environment.

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ability to follow sanitation and food safety procedures.

Ability to read and write in English to follow written instructions, SOPs, and complete tracking sheets.

Ability to stand,



walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift in a production environment.

Comfort working in wet environments and around cleaning chemicals while following safety guidelines.

Ability to lift and move bins, cleaning equipment, and sanitation supplies as required.

Experience with general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waste disposal, and surface sanitizing.

Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain consistent cleaning standards.

Solid attention to detail to ensure all areas meet cleanliness and food safety requirements.

Reliability in completing assigned tasks and documenting work on daily custodial task lists.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Janitorial duties within production, warehouse, or industrial environments.

Experience as an industrial cleaner in a clean manufacturing or food industry setting.

Familiarity with sanitation, food handling, and food safety practices in production facilities.

Experience cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, sanitized rooms, and high-traffic work areas.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment with production and sanitation staff.

Comfort using industrial sanitation equipment and cleaning tools.

Willingness to learn and follow detailed SOPs and GMP requirements.

Interest in developing skills that can support advancement into processing technician or supervisory roles.

**Work Environment**

You will work around wet floors, cleaning chemicals, and industrial sanitation equipment, and will regularly clean production floors, offices, lunchrooms, washrooms, and exterior areas.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and includes protective gloves, non-slip high boots, a hair net, and a gown.

The facility operates multiple shifts, with a first shift typically running from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with some flexibility around start times.

The dress code focuses on safety and sanitation, requiring consistent use of PPE and adherence to food manufacturing hygiene standards.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
