Within the Ministry of Education and Childcare , the Strategic Services and Governance division supports strategic planning, governance, and corporate coordination across the ministry. The Corporate Planning Branch provides leadership and support for business planning, operational planning and reporting, research and analysis in support of environmental scanning Enterprise Risk Management, and related corporate processes that help the ministry advance priorities and deliver programs and services for Albertans.
Role Responsibilities Reporting to the Manager, Business Planning, the Business Planning Analyst supports the Ministry of Education and Childcare by coordinating business planning, reporting, and strategic corporate processes within the Corporate Planning Branch. This position provides analysis, coordination, and advice to support ministry priorities, planning requirements, performance reporting, and related corporate initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Business planning and reporting: Supporting the coordination, development, and monitoring of ministry business planning and reporting processes to ensure alignment with government and ministry priorities.
Analysis and advice: Conducting research, analysis, and information gathering to support evidence-informed recommendations, briefing materials, and decision-making.
Corporate coordination: Working with ministry branches, program areas, and stakeholders to gather input, clarify requirements, and support accurate and timely completion of planning and reporting deliverables.
Process improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve planning tools, reporting processes, templates,



and procedures to support consistent and effective corporate planning practices.
Stakeholder relationships: Developing and maintaining effective working relationships across the ministry and with corporate partners to support coordinated responses, shared understanding, and successful completion of branch priorities.

Qualifications University graduation in a related field plus two years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or




1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required Skills
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support business planning, reporting, briefing materials, and evidence-informed recommendations.
Ability to coordinate corporate planning and reporting processes, including gathering information, tracking deliverables, and supporting accurate and timely submissions.
Effective written communication skills to prepare clear reports, planning documents, summaries, and related corporate materials.
Strong interpersonal and consultation skills to work collaboratively with ministry branches, program areas, and corporate partners.
Experience synthesizing information from multiple stakeholders into concise products for leadership review or decision-making.
Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing timelines, and deliver quality work within established requirements.

Assets
Experience supporting government, ministry, or public sector business planning and accountability processes.
Knowledge of Government of Alberta planning, reporting, and decision-making processes.
Experience developing or improving templates, tools, procedures, or guidance materials that support consistent corporate planning practices.
Familiarity with the education and childcare environment, including ministry priorities, programs, or stakeholder considerations.
This is (1) one full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate is expected to work out of the Edmonton Office.
