Maintenance - Controls Technician - Long Term Assignment
Catholic Education Centre, Peterborough
40 h/w (12 m/y)
Anticipated duration: immediately until June 25, 2026 or the return of the employee being replaced.
Note: In cases where an internal applicant from a different classification applies, that candidate will be required to participate in an interview and will be subject to reference checks to determine eligibility for the position subject to Article 12.02 of the collective agreement. For greater clarity, the interview will be worth 70% and the reference check 30%.
Job Function:
Perform variety of maintenance duties related to building automation, electrical and mechanical systems.

Perform maintenance duties on various building, mechanical and electrical systems.
Perform inspections of various heating, cooling and water systems.
Assess requirements to maintain and upgrade building automation systems.
Make improvements and recommendations to building automation systems.
Establish schedules for maximum operating efficiency of heating/cooling and plumbing systems and alter as required.
Maintain schedule log of required maintenance to all Board equipment.
Maintain inventory of materials required for maintenance of all building automation, mechanical and electrical systems.
Perform various custodial duties affiliated with related work areas.
Job Requirements:
Requires Certification in one or more of the following certified trades; Electrician, HVAC Technician, and knowledge of building automation systems.
Requires knowledge of pneumatic controls, electrical and mechanical heating/cooling and systems.
Requires computer skills and proficiency with a variety of software systems, programmable controllers, microprocessors, and microcomputer systems.
Requires knowledge of general building maintenance, provincial construction standards and pertinent government regulations.
Requires working from ladders and scaffolds and in confined areas.
Requires reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
Robust ability of troubleshoot and problem solve.
Requires a valid driver’s license and may require use of own vehicle.
Requires adjusting work schedule to suit the needs of various projects and school operation.
Requires organizational skills in preventative maintenance and schedule keeping.
Requires using a variety of power and hand tools and machines.
Requires communicating effectively and working co-operatively with Board personnel, suppliers and the general public including contractors and programmers for building automation systems.
