**Job Title: Forklift Operator
LTL Freight Cross Dock**
**Job Description**
Join a fast-paced LTL freight cross dock operation in Calgary, where you will play a key role in safely loading, unloading, and moving freight using a sit-down counterbalance forklift and manual handling.
This position combines forklift operation, physical work, and paperwork handling in a dynamic team environment on an afternoon shift.
**Responsibilities**
Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
Load and unload trailers with freight using the forklift for approximately 60% of the day.
Move pallets and freight as required to support cross dock operations and ensure efficient flow of goods.
Handle bills of lading and other shipping and receiving paperwork accurately during the shift.
Assist team members with unloading paperwork and documentation to ensure proper processing of freight.
Help maintain a clean and organized yard and dock area, including regular cleaning duties each shift.
**Essential Skills**
Minimum 1 year of experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift.
Minimum 1 year of experience loading and unloading trailers using a forklift in a transportation, warehouse, distribution, 3PL, or LTL environment.
Experience working in fast-paced environments and the ability to switch tasks quickly and effectively.
Valid forklift ticket (in-house or private).
If expired or not currently held, willingness to obtain a ticket through company-approved training prior to starting.
Knowledge of LTL freight, shipping and receiving, cross dock operations, docking, 3PL, and freight handling.
Strong attention to safety and adherence to dock and yard safety procedures.
Ability to read, understand, and accurately handle bills of lading and related shipping documents.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Safety vest available for use on the dock; bringing a personal safety vest is strongly recommended.
Leadership experience in a warehouse, cross dock, or freight environment is an asset.
Experience using RF scanners for tracking and processing freight is an asset.
Previous experience working with waybills and bills of lading is an asset.
Comfort working in tight spaces around dock doors, forklifts, and pallets.
Robust teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with a group of 710 direct team members and a larger dock crew.

**Work Workplace**
This role is based in a very fast-paced LTL freight cross dock in Calgary, handling courier shipments.
Freight is unloaded, sorted, and repacked for outbound delivery in a relatively small space with frequent movement in and out of dock doors.
You will work closely with a team of 710 people on your shift and report to a supervisor, performing a mix of forklift operation, manual swamping, and paperwork tasks that require adaptability and quick task switching.
The scheduled shift is Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The dock environment can be cold, so outdoor-appropriate clothing such as jackets and sweatshirts is recommended to stay comfortable while working.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.75 - $24.75/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
