In this job, you help support project sites and regional offices. Your work helps DCC meet its health and safety duties under both corporate rules and industry expectations.
You will coordinate with several groups. You will also look over contractor safety plans, visit sites for inspections, and check what happened when incidents occur. You will track risks and support health and safety needs across DCC.

Job Description The Health and Safety Coordinator helps our locations and regional offices run day to day safety work.
It also supports teams so staff follow the safety policies and standard procedures.
You will work with different groups to push safety forward. This includes working with construction coordinators.
You will review contractor safety plans and check that they meet expectations.
You will also do site safety checks, look into safety incidents, and help with risk control.
This job allows hybrid work, with three days each week in the office.
You must have a Secret security clearance.
You need to be able to work in English, with English being essential.
Responsibilities Serve as a local contact for health and safety rules, policies, and laws.
Work with different groups to push health and safety plans forward.
Add safety terms to contract paperwork when needed.
Check contractor safety reports and submissions.
Visit job sites, do safety checks, and finish the related log forms.
Share good health and safety methods with others.
Set up, plan, and run the monthly safety huddle for staff.
Help meet the company’s health and safety needs.
Build and keep working relationships across DCC and with industry partners, client partners, and other stakeholders.
Control and manage risk.
Act as a region wide support person for health and safety work.
Look into accidents and incidents and complete the required reports.
Keep contact with provincial and federal regulators.
Arrange, deliver, and join health and safety training and skill building.
Requirements To meet the basic education and experience needs, a person should have a college diploma in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or another similar program.
They also need two years of relevant work.
An equal mix of education and experience can be accepted.
A related qualified title is seen as an advantage.
An example is the Canadian Registered Safety Professional.
You must understand current health and safety practices.
This includes common methods, newer trends, and the laws that apply.
You also need a grasp of risk management basics.
You will be expected to work with the software and computer systems that the role uses.
You must be able to use risk management tools in day to day tasks.
You will also give clear, practical direction to staff.
The job may involve a usual construction site.
Basic safety gear is needed there.
Some tasks may be done in an office. There can also be short trips for work.
