Become a vital part of the DOPES team at AVI Health & Community Services as a Support Worker. This role focuses on harm reduction, crisis intervention, and education in a community setting.
AVI Health & Community Services is seeking a Support Worker for the DOPES Team to provide essential, low-barrier harm reduction services. With a robust focus on peer support and community engagement, you'll leverage your skills in crisis intervention and educational outreach. Your work will help bridge gaps for marginalized individuals, ensuring access to vital health services and support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide harm reduction supplies and education to individuals
• Train on overdose response and safer substance use practices
• Assist with crisis intervention and referrals to health services
• Support individuals using substances through assessment and response
• Maintain safety protocols and document client interactions
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years in harm reduction service delivery
• Experience in overdose response with naloxone training
• Strong understanding of community health services
• Ability to engage clients respectfully and empathetically
• First Aid training with CPR-C certification
