Job Summary
Windsor House Co. is looking for a Part-Time Property & Operations Assistant to help operate, maintain and improve a furnished rental property in central Windsor.
This is an unusual, highly wide-ranging role combining hands-on property work, organization, interior design/staging, hospitality, property management, customer service and marketing.
This is not a desk job. We are specifically looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems and taking on different projects from week to week. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable rearranging a room, reorganizing a storage shed, meeting a contractor and communicating professionally with a guest.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and rearrange furniture and help improve the function, appearance and layout of furnished spaces
- Organize storage areas, household supplies, linens and inventory
- Perform light hands-on property work, including minor fixes, light cleaning, yard work and miscellaneous projects
- Help prepare and maintain the property for furnished-rental guests
- Pick up supplies and monitor household inventory
- Meet and coordinate with contractors, tradespeople and other service providers when required
- Communicate professionally with guests and assist with customer-service issues and problem-solving
- Assist with marketing, networking and other activities involved in growing the rental operation
- Identify problems and opportunities for improvement rather than simply waiting to be given a task
Who We're Looking For
You do not need to be a skilled tradesperson or exceptionally strong, but you must be comfortable with physical, hands-on work. This includes moving furniture, assembling items, using a step stool, emptying and reorganizing storage spaces and performing light outdoor work.
We're particularly interested in someone who is:
- Dependable, proactive and detail-oriented
- Organized and comfortable bringing order to cluttered spaces
- Personable and confident dealing with guests, contractors and other stakeholders
- Resourceful and willing to figure things out
- Visually minded, with a good sense of interior layout, presentation and design
- Interested in real estate investing, interior design, hospitality, marketing and property management
- Interested in growing into greater responsibility and autonomy over time
Relevant experience in real estate, property management, hospitality, interior design/staging or similar work is an asset, but fit, judgment, initiative and versatility matter more than a particular résumé.
Hours & Compensation
Starting wage: $25+/hour
Approximately 10+ hours per week in a light week, with additional hours during busier periods. Work is project-driven, so some scheduling flexibility is significant.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in learning the practical, behind-the-scenes side of operating and growing a furnished-rental real estate business.
To apply: Please submit your application and briefly tell us why this particular combination of hands-on property work, real estate, design and hospitality appeals to you.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 30.0 per week
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Mileage reimbursement
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Windsor, ON N9A 4N5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Application question(s):
- Are you comfortable performing regular hands-on physical tasks such as assembling and moving furniture, reorganizing storage areas, using a step stool, and doing light outdoor/property work?
- This role is approximately 10+ hours per week, with hours varying based on projects and property needs. Are you comfortable with a part-time schedule that may vary from week to week?
- What interests you about this particular role, and which parts of it do you think you would be especially good at?
