Job Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor provides frontline leadership and operational oversight in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. Working as part of a team of Operations Supervisors, this role provides day-to-day leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Certified Refuelling Professionals (CRPs) and other frontline employees.
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operations while supporting employee performance, customer service, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and manage in accordance with company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 4 on 3 off, 3 on 4 off (Day or night TBD)
Job Duties:
Operations
- Coordinate daily staffing, schedules, equipment, and resources to meet customer and operational requirements.
- Make sound day-to-day operational decisions regarding staffing, resources, service delivery, and priorities to maintain secure and effective operations.
- Monitor service delivery, route execution, productivity, fleet utilization, equipment availability, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate operational coverage across shifts and respond to service disruptions, equipment issues, weather events, and other operational emergencies.
- Monitor fuel inventory and coordinate replenishment as required.
- Work with Fleet, maintenance providers, and other internal teams to maintain safe, compliant, and operational equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, optimize resources, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across the operation.
- Lead and manage in accordance with company policies, procedures,
regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, field observations, and workplace inspections.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, vehicle accidents, spills, and injuries and follow through on corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with Hours of Service, fatigue management, dangerous goods, commercial vehicle, vehicle inspection, and driver qualification requirements.
- Maintain required vehicle inspections, training, licences, certifications, and PPE requirements.
- Support emergency response and operational contingency planning.
People Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, direction, and support to CRPs and frontline employees.
- Work collaboratively with the Operations Supervisor team to maintain consistent standards, expectations, and practices across the operation.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Engage with People & Culture as required to address employee relations and workplace matters.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and performance management.
- Conduct ride-alongs, field observations, and performance reviews.
- Foster a positive, respectful, engaged, and safety-focused workplace.
Customer & Business Performance
- Deliver against customer requirements and service commitments.
- Address customer concerns and service issues and communicate service disruptions and recovery plans as required.
- Support new customer onboarding and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor key operational KPIs, including service reliability, on-time delivery, route efficiency, fleet and equipment utilization, overtime, and shift coverage.
- Support cost management, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reporting to support audits, inspections, and business requirements.
What we require of you:
- 5–10 years of operational leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in transportation, logistics, fleet, industrial, or a similarly fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading frontline employees and managing performance, attendance, scheduling, and operational priorities.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain,
or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Rotating on call Day/Night monitoring
- Valid Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Brakes, or equivalent provincial licence, with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work in a mobile, onsite refuelling environment and safely shuttle trucks as required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule supporting a 24/7 operation, including evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and emergency situations.
- Ability to safely access vehicles, fueling equipment, and work sites, including climbing ladders and vehicle platforms.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear and properly use required PPE.
