Job Summary
Alopex Couriers is seeking a motivated, safety-conscious, and reliable 5-Ton Driver for our Cranbrook Depot, to support our transportation and delivery operations in the Kootenay’s area. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of parcels, freight, and other shipments between warehouses, sorting facilities, and designated delivery locations.
The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and will have experience operating 5-ton commercial vehicles, demonstrate sound defensive driving practices, and understand the importance of vehicle inspections, load security, regulatory compliance, and timely transportation. Drivers must be prepared to operate in a variety of road and weather conditions, including mountainous terrain, steep grades, and winter driving conditions.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 5-ton commercial vehicle in accordance with applicable traffic laws, transportation regulations, and company driving policies.
- Transport shipments between warehouses, sorting facilities, and designated locations according to assigned schedules and routes.
- Conduct required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report defects, damage, or maintenance concerns.
- Ensure shipments are properly loaded, secured, transported, and unloaded to prevent damage, loss, or shifting during transit.
- Plan and follow efficient routes while meeting established transportation schedules and operational deadlines.
- Apply defensive driving techniques and adjust driving practices to road, traffic, vehicle load, and weather conditions, including snow, ice, steep grades, and mountainous terrain.
- Comply with applicable Hours of Service requirements,
National Safety Code requirements, and other commercial transportation regulations.
- Complete required driver logs, inspection reports, shipment documentation, and other operational records accurately and on time.
- Communicate promptly with dispatch and supervisors regarding delays, route changes, road hazards, shipment discrepancies, vehicle issues, and incidents.
- Use mobile devices, scanning equipment, dispatch technology, and other operational tools as required.
- Follow established safe work procedures when loading, unloading, lifting, carrying, and handling shipments, using approved material-handling equipment where appropriate.
- Report hazards, collisions, near misses, injuries, and unsafe conditions in accordance with company procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and incident investigations as required.
- Maintain the vehicle in a clean, organized, and professional condition.
- Work collaboratively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, supervisors, and other team members to support efficient operations.
- Uphold Alopex service standards and demonstrate The Alopex Way in all aspects of the role.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence or higher, with any additional licence class or endorsements required for the assigned vehicle and operation.
- Previous experience operating 5-ton commercial vehicles.
- Satisfactory commercial driver's abstract in accordance with Alopex Couriers' established requirements.
- Working knowledge of applicable British Columbia commercial vehicle regulations, National Safety Code requirements, and Hours of Service rules.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial vehicle inspections, load security, defensive driving, and safe transportation practices.
- Ability to operate a commercial vehicle safely in varied road and weather conditions, including winter and mountainous driving environments.
- Ability to complete required transportation documentation and operate applicable mobile devices, scanning equipment, and dispatch technology.
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with loading, unloading, and handling shipments.

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
