McMaster University, in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a full-time academic General Surgeon.

The General Surgery

Program serves a catchment area of more than 2.5 million residents. The service provides tertiary and quaternarylevel care to patients within the catchment area and plays an essential role in the support of other programs at Hamilton Health Sciences.

The General Surgery

Division within the Department of Surgery, McMaster University supports a fully accredited Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada training program in General Surgery with full involvement in undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education programs.

The General Surgery Service and the Department of Surgery at McMaster University are actively engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education, and support a clinical Breast Surgery Fellowship. The successful candidate will possess fellowship training in Breast Surgery and demonstrated expertise in the management of general surgical conditions, with a particular focus on breast disease, appropriate for an academic tertiary referral centre.The candidate will have a proven track record of exceptional interpersonal and collaborative abilities, along with the initiative to advance the clinical, educational, and academic goals of the Breast Service and General Surgery Division.

Experience working within a multidisciplinary breast care program is required.

A strong commitment to surgical education across all learner levels is essential, as is active involvement in research and scholarly activities within the Breast Service and the broader General Surgery program. Demonstrated research productivity and/or Master's-level research training are considered assets.

This is a full-time, renewable three-year faculty appointment within the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. Applicants must have or be eligible for certification in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent)



and be licensed or eligible for license in the Province of Ontario.

Preferred candidates will have specialized fellowship training in Breast Surgery or Surgical Oncology. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be considered first for this position. Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for Clinical Faculty is derived from multiple sources and varies based on clinical activity, speciality, and practice arrangements. Compensation may include a combination of university-based salary, stipends, hospital or partner organization funding, and earnings through clinical practice plans.
