Six Nations Group (SNG) is growing, and we're looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role supports the financial management responsibilities of Six Nations Group and the Economic Development Trust. What You’ll Do
Finance Operations
- Complete account and bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate financial records
- Assist with the preparation and review of financial information and reporting
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data across multiple entities
Accounts Receivable & Banking
- Perform reconciliations for all bank accounts
- Prepare and process bank deposits
- Record and reconcile cash, cheque, EFT, debit, and credit transactions
- Prepare and process customer invoices and monthly statements
- Work with Guest Experience staff regarding rental invoices and outstanding receivables
- Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable as required
General Accounting
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
- Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Support financial reporting and analysis activities
- Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger records
Compliance, Controls & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Maintain organized audit trails and financial records
- Identify financial risks and assist in implementing corrective actions
Process Improvement & Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with leadership and departments to enhance financial processes and reporting
- Assist in developing and documenting procedures and best practices
- Support process improvement initiatives that strengthen efficiency and accuracy
- Build strong working relationships across the organization
General Finance Support
- Review and upload bingo session records
- Complete bingo cash reconciliations and ensure record accuracy
- Support special projects and other finance-related duties as required
What You Bring
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPA or CFA designation preferred, or currently working toward designation
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, including not-for-profit accounting principles
- Robust analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and professionally
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
