Job Overview
We are a growing accounting firm seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our clients' financial health by handling day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who thrives in a quick-paced environment, possesses strong organizational skills, and is eager to grow their career in public practice.Key ResponsibilitiesTaxation &
- Compliance
- Tax Preparation: Assist in gathering records and preparing working papers for Personal (T1) and Corporate (T2) tax returns.
- HST/GST Filing: Reconcile, prepare, and organize financial records to file periodic HST returns for diverse clients.
- Government Correspondence: Help prepare responses to Clients as well as to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) notices and information requests.
Bookkeeping &
- Payroll
- Payroll Management: Process and run payroll accurately using QuickBooks for various clients.
- Source Deductions: Assist with payroll source deductions, WSIB tracking, and year-end T4/T5 summary preparations.
- Ledger Maintenance: Record day-to-day financial transactions, perform bank reconciliations,
and maintain clean general ledgers.
Client Support &
- Administration
- Front-line Communication: Answer incoming phone calls, respond to client emails promptly, and manage incoming/outgoing mail.
- Record Keeping: Maintain a highly organized digital and physical filing system for sensitive client tax and financial documents.
- Client Intake: Greet clients, help collect outstanding tax documents, and follow up on missing information required for file completion.
Qualifications &
- Skills
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Software Experience: Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) is highly preferred;
experience with tax software (e.g., Profile, TaxCycle, or Corporate Taxprep) is a strong asset.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills for professional client interaction.
- Attributes: Strong attention to detail, ability to handle confidential information, and capacity to meet strict tax deadlines.
Pay: $34,000.00-$40,000.00 per year
