The Admission Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Admissions Counsellor & Backend Admissions Coordinator to join our growing team in Mississauga.
We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in Canadian education admissions and immigration services, particularly with students and clients already in Canada. The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing the entire student journey — from initial counselling and profile assessment to application submission, offer letter, enrolment, and follow-up.
This is a dual-role position combining student counselling, admissions, sales, and backend application coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Student Counselling & Admissions
- Conduct consultations with students regarding Canadian education pathways, programs, colleges, and career options.
- Assess student profiles, academic backgrounds, immigration status, work experience, and future goals.
- Recommend suitable programs and institutions based on the student's profile and eligibility.
- Explain admission requirements, tuition fees, intakes, application procedures, and program details.
- Handle student inquiries through calls, WhatsApp, email, and in-person consultations.
- Convert qualified leads into applications and maintain consistent follow-ups.
- Build strong relationships with students throughout the admissions process.
Backend Admissions & Application Processing
- Manage the complete admissions process from application to enrolment.
- Prepare and submit applications to Canadian colleges and institutions.
- Complete college application portals and admission forms accurately.
- Collect, review, organize, and verify student documentation.
- Prepare and follow up on Offer Letters / Letters of Acceptance (LOAs).
- Communicate with colleges regarding application status, missing documents, conditions, and admission requirements.
- Follow up with students for pending documents, tuition deposits, offer acceptance, and enrolment requirements.
- Track application deadlines, intakes, outstanding conditions, and application status.
- Maintain accurate student files, CRM records, Google Sheets, and internal databases.
- Coordinate closely with the counselling, sales, and admissions teams.
Immigration Knowledge & Client Support
- Have a strong understanding of the Canadian immigration environment and common pathways relevant to students and temporary residents.
- Understand different Canadian statuses such as Study Permit, PGWP, Open Work Permit, SOWP, Visitor Status, PR, and Canadian citizenship.
- Be able to identify when a student's immigration status may affect program or admission options.
- Provide accurate information within the scope of the role and coordinate with the appropriate immigration professional when regulated immigration advice is required.
- Stay updated on relevant Canadian education and immigration changes that may impact students.
Required Experience & Skills
- 2–4+ years of experience in Canadian education counselling, admissions, immigration services, or a related field.
- Strong experience working with Canadian onshore students and temporary residents.
- Previous experience in an education consultancy, immigration consultancy, college recruitment organization, or student recruitment company.
- Hands-on experience with Canadian college/university applications and admission processes.
- Experience managing applications from initial counselling → application → LOA → tuition/enrolment.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian colleges, programs, admission requirements, and intakes.
- Working knowledge of Canadian immigration processes and temporary resident statuses.
- Strong counselling, communication, sales, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent document management and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple student files and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience using CRM systems, Google Sheets, Microsoft Office, email, WhatsApp, and online application portals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with the team.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who can both counsel a student and independently manage their application afterward. You should be able to:
- Speak confidently with students and understand their goals.
- Assess academic and immigration profiles.
- Recommend appropriate education pathways.
- Convert inquiries into applications through effective counselling and follow-up.
- Process applications accurately and efficiently.
- Communicate professionally with colleges and students.
- Manage LOAs, documentation, deadlines, and enrolment requirements.
- Understand the connection between education pathways and Canadian immigration considerations.
- Take ownership of student files from the first consultation through enrolment.
- Work in a fast-paced, target-oriented environment.
