Build the AI stack from the ground up
Engagement: 6–12 month build, with path to permanent
Start date: As soon as available

GNMI is a multi-site Ontario diagnostic imaging organization (MRI, CT, Ultrasound, X-Ray) with 26+ clinic locations across the GTA and Ontario. We're building a suite of AI tools to run our clinics smarter — from scheduling and patient safety to radiology turnaround and referral growth — and we need one developer to own the full stack alongside our operations team for the next 8–12 months.
You'll work closely with us on-site and remotely, turning real clinical and operational problems into production Claude-powered tools. No product managers. No committee approvals. Just fast, meaningful build cycles with direct access to the people who use what you make.
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD
Priority projects
- Scheduling Command Center : Live scanner utilization dashboard. Auto-fill cancellations from waitlist. Cross-site load balancing across GTA sites. No-show prediction and smart slot prioritization — STAT cases, high-value scans, key referrers first.
- Report Generator: Upload chest X-ray → Claude Vision generates structured preliminary findings for radiologist review and sign-off.
- Front Desk Automation: AI voice agent, online pre-registration, automated reminders and insurance verification. Fewer missed calls,
fewer no-shows.
- Backend Infrastructure: Secure pipelines, encrypted PHI storage, Anthropic API integration, monitoring and audit logging across all tools.
- MRI Safety Screening Assistant – digital pre-screening that flags implants, devices and contraindications before arrival
- Contrast & Renal Checker – flags contrast bookings needing eGFR, allergy history or premedication
- Protocol Assignment Assistant – suggests MRI/CT protocols from the clinical indication for approval
- Priority Triage – sorts requisitions by clinical urgency to meet wait-time targets
- Prior Imaging Retrieval – requests prior studies from other facilities before the appointment
- Patient Prep Instructions – exam-specific prep sent automatically in the patient's language
Radiology operations
- Reporting Backlog & Turnaround Tracker – live unread-study view with overdue alerts and worklist balancing
- Critical Results Tracker – logs urgent findings and confirms referring physician notification
- Peer Review / QA Module – case sampling, discrepancy tracking and QA reporting
- CT Dose Monitoring – tracks dose per exam against reference levels and flags outliers
- Inventory Manager – contrast and consumables tracking with auto-reorder alerts
- Referral Analytics Dashboard – referral volume by physician and modality to guide outreach
- Referring Physician Portal – online requisitions, booking status and report access
- Billing & Claims QA – reconciles completed scans against billed claims
- Patient Feedback – post-visit surveys with alerts on negative feedback
- PHIPA Access Monitoring – flags unusual record access and keeps audit-ready logs
- Inspection Readiness Hub – centralizes QA logs, policies, equipment records and credentials
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years software development experience, including at least 1 year hands-on with LLM APIs (Claude strongly preferred)
- React and TypeScript — you can own the clinical UI end-to-end
- Backend skills in Node.js or Python — REST APIs, automation, data pipelines
- Prompt engineering, RAG patterns and structured output extraction from LLMs
- Dashboard and data visualization experience
- Comfort working in a regulated setting — PHIPA/PIPEDA or equivalent healthcare privacy law
- Clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders
- Nice to have: RIS/PACS/DICOM, HL7/FHIR, healthcare-compliant cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), voice AI or telephony integrations
