Job Summary

Join our team as an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic in your 3rd or 4th year of training! This role offers an prospect to develop your skills in heavy equipment repair and maintenance while working alongside experienced professionals. You will gain hands-on experience with a variety of machinery all while contributing to the efficient operation of our service department.

This apprenticeship is designed to foster your growth into a skilled mechanic capable of tackling complex repairs and diagnostics across industrial and heavy-duty equipment. Monday-Friday dayshift, no weekends required. Wages dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

- Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues on, on highway equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical instruments to repair or replace faulty components.
- Support the disassembly and reassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Operate heavy equipment like forklifts or other industrial machinery under supervision for testing or moving parts.




- Read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems effectively.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance logs, and inspection reports for accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in a recognized apprenticeship program for Heavy Duty Mechanics with at least 3rd or 4th-year standing.
- Demonstrated mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in a heavy duty shop setting.
- Computer diagnostic skills with Cummins, CAT, and Detroit engines.
- Engine repair experience preferred
- Duties include suspension repair, brake repair and electrical repairs. Service work as required.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for detail when reading schematics or troubleshooting complex systems.

Pay: $36.00-$42.00 per hour Expected hours: 44.0 per week
